Nismo in Road and Track

Yet another little Nismo blurb...this time in the most recent Road and Track. Pretty run-of-the-mill for a review though.

1/4 mile is 13.5 which is quicker than what the other reviewers got, still slower than a non nismo.

Wow.....why is the Nismo's braking so much worse!!?? 123ft!!! Maybe it's the tires bc the brakes are exactly the same as the sport models.

The trap speed of 106.6 is awesome though....it should be a beast from a roll

Something must have been up with the tires or conditions. The skidpad results were worse as well.

The trap speed is good for a VERY LOW 13 with a good driver. Sounds like the day they did the testing they wernt able to get optimal traction which would explain the handling/braking/acceleration results.

Almost every problem I've seen with the NISMO numbers on all the reviews could be traced back to wonky tires. Bad skidpad results with tighter suspension/larger tires just doesn't make sense (I think Edmunds got a .91!). Bad grip on launch would explain the relatively slow 0-60 but how it seems to be catching back up at trap speeds.

69.9 thats it?! And mine did 71.X stock. Getting more and more depressing with this new version every time a article comes out. The 370z is just as good as the NISMO now.

Magazine stats are always the worst way to judge a cars performance. During the 90s magazine discrepancy for the 300ZX TT ranged from performance stats as good as 13.6 @106 and a 5.0 0-60 and as bad as a 15.0 @99 and a 6.4 0-60. Magazine stats just give you a general idea...by no means are they the definitive place to look for real world results.

I wonder how much time they spend warming up the tires during those reviews. I've found my sport Bridgestones to be very slick and skid prone when cold but get really gummy and grippy once you warm them up aggressively.
