Got a 2 hour drive on a flatbed in an hour... What do I do???

UPDATE WITH CAR INFO:
So... Long story short(ER). They found a nut sitting on the intake valves of cylinder 6, causing the valve seat to be ******. No warranty because there ARE no nuts on the intake... So... I'm at a loss of $600 labor already, they pulled the motor and disconnected everything, then they bolted it back in just to save shop space.

IF they can JUST replace the valve head (because of VVEL they need to replace the whole head, not just a valve and a valve seat... POS) I'm out $1100 on labor, the valve head is like $1000-1100, plus (I assume) some other fees $300-400, so I'm out $2500-2600 all told and I keep my warranty. IF anything got stuck in the cylinder and scored the cylinder wall, I need a new engine... (Tech's said that they couldn't scope the cylinder because of VVEL... POS...)

So they're taking their time because they're cutting me a HELL of a deal on labor, and I told them to take all the time they need...

NOW, I'm 100% sure the dealership that had my car for 13 days with the laundry list of problems started to fix it, then I got into it with the dealershit guy, and they just tossed it back together...

Made it to the dealership in record time!!!

EDIT:

He's well over an hour late so we're going to RAPE traffic...

Now... Sit with the driver?... Or... Sit in the car with the windows down blasting music and smoking a nice Cuban cigar?...

carlitos_370z 07-18-2013 08:36 AM

mmmmmm I don't know but I don't like cigars in my car ;) just my 2 cents!!!! but if you like to smoke in your car, go in your car bro and have nice trip!!!!

Haboob 07-18-2013 08:41 AM

Voted cigars, but some bumps off of the steering wheel may be better...

falconfixer 07-18-2013 09:37 AM

I figured there'd be an option for rubbing one out while sittinng in the car. I wouldn't recommend with the driver, it could get awkward.

Mt Tam I am 07-18-2013 09:40 AM

Well... I'm in the cab, getting breakfast, then I'm moving to the car

Trips 07-18-2013 09:49 AM

I believe for legally reasons you're looking at having to Ride with the tow driver.

Tow truck drivers can be very entertaining if they don't talk too much

Chuck33079 07-18-2013 10:04 AM

They can't tow a car with someone in it.

DEpointfive0 07-18-2013 10:08 AM

Updated OP!

Totally just want to see pictures of you puffing on a Cuban in the Z on a flatbed!

DEpointfive0 07-18-2013 10:24 AM

As for being towed IN the car...

I HAVE been in a car being towed once before, but like 15 years ago.
And at first the driver said SOMETIMES people sit in their cars, but for the first 15 min until McDonalds, I was in the truck (couldn't smoke in it anyways) and I made a fake phone call saying "I had work to do on my laptop" and he said "just be hush hush about it", lol!!! And I said "who the fúck am I gonna tell?"

And he kinda understood because the seat I'm his truck was SOOOO annoying, it was tilted forward and had no adjustment

As I type this, the driver illegally merged into the diamond lane! LOOOOOOLL!!!

2010ZilverZ 07-18-2013 10:25 AM

I voted cigar

Enjoy that ride man

4r3s 07-18-2013 10:31 AM

Hey Andrew, best of luck. I hope they don't mess around & get you fixed right this time.

JARblue 07-18-2013 01:35 PM

I'm guessing that Nissan already has the engine removed and is currently installing a brand new long block steering lock :ugh2:

Probably combing it over to find a reason to not fix it.

Thanks all!!! :tiphat: I'm finally confident

In any case, went to the dealer, told them what's up, the service techs had a problem starting it and driving it 10 feet! They pulled the same codes, cylinder 6 and random or multiple cylinder misfire.
I talked to 2 service advisors, both GREAT guys, VERY helpful, Alex Ramos and... Um... I forgot, lol, (I've been awake for 30 hours, lol)
I said that the car was unsafe to drive because of the random misfires and the fact that the car would slow from 80+ to 60 in almost no time while the car shook like a son bitch, and they really took it to heart and agreed.
And I told them what the previous dealer said, and did (more like didn't) do over the 13 days they had my car, and they blamed my starting problems on the battery and they said they fixed all my other smaller issues, which they didn't... And I said I have a 1 month old Costco battery as well as a brand new Nissan battery in the passenger footwell if needed to change it. I told them that I wanted everything to be right and they were impressed that I had 2 batteries, that I had the oil changes done to a tee, fluids changed with GTR fluids and such. They also said their GTR tech will work on it and he can fix a car with his eyes closed, and it showed, he had 3 GTRs he was working on at the same time, lol!!!

I gave them the laundry list of problems, and some parts like door rattle isn't covered anymore since I'm out of the 3yr/36k, which I'm out of, but he said they'd look.
As I was driving home I called him and said that the door rattle was the window because. And he cut me off, and said, Andrew, don't worry, we'll be taking care of ALL of it, lol!!! But I said when the window is put down even a millimeter, it doesn't rattle, and he assured me that they'd look over everything, and right everything, even on their dime.

There was some other things said that I won't post, but all in all, Fontana Nissan FTW, really a great place overall!
And I can FINALLY sleep well at night!!!

JARblue 07-18-2013 03:24 PM

Sounds like a good start to the process, Andrew
