I guess my line of thought is that it seems like the Nismo has a lot of different parts that aren't part of the aesthetics of the kit but are needed for fitment vs an aftermarket body kit designed specifically to replace the main five pieces on the base model (2 bumpers, 2 side skirts, 1 spoiler). I noticed in dm's thread that the extra recommended items just for the Nismo front bumper conversion totaled almost $1K (MSRP). Of course, not all these pieces are probably necessary to install the main visual components of the kits, so I'm sure that, along with diligent price searching and a good compromise on which parts are installed, you could save significantly off the dealer price for the kit. I do wonder what the potential cost difference could be. Maybe $4K for a DIYer with minimal parts? And what about a dealer invoice nearing 10K if you include all possible relevant parts and install costs? |
Another factor is his location. Shipping may be a bitch.

If you buy every little piece from the dealership it can get up to probably 10k, but many of the pieces that are 'different' between the Nismo & coupe are really just cut differently.
It has been found some of the pieces on the coupe or 1 piece where the nismo in is 2, so it works just have to fit it properly. The major costs that Nissan screws people on when converting are the Nismo undertray (but now we have Zspeed) and any 'extra' bolt or plastic pieces they say are needed. |

The second most expensive part is the nismo wing. It's like $2600?! But since OP is asking for the Nismo-Look, so Evo-R high wing and few other options are out there for you. |

...and then of course there's the fact that most Nismo owners will rarely, if ever go on a real race track. Maybe you're right though. It's not a real Nismo unless some Asian dude in Japan says so...but so what? :bowrofl: |
i started checking out the amuse kit...it seems to have a better look then the nismo :/
How much is the total amuse body kit cost? |

IMO, the Amuse Vestito kit is overdone to hell, especially with the large amount of knock off's floating around. Price seems kinda low also. It's pretty good for the real kit, but I'd make sure it was legit before forking over that much loot.
If you want the Nismo Kit, go for the Nismo kit. Z1 Motorsports sells the conversion kit without the rear wing for around $3,700+Shipping. |
Never heard of them. Was no vendor here selling the amuse kit?

OP,
I was contemplating this very thing myself. However after seeing what it cost I just decided to trade my base model in for a Nismo and get the brakes, 6speed and the kit.. and the possibility it could become a collector's vehicle down the road Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2 |
I suspect that you are really are going to freak (I can think of many better words than "freak" but this is a family forum) a lot of people out with this sort of conversion. A lot of people spent a lot of money to buy a Nismo and will not take kindly to someone creating a knock-off Nismo.
I had a 1999 Camaro SS. Chevy was very protective of the SS brand and made you prove that you actually owned an SS before they would sell you any SS specific parts. As an SS owner I appreciated how Chevy protected the SS brand. I once owned a very sharp modified white '66 Mustang 2+2. It had a Shelby style hood scoop and the pony and cross bar were removed from the grill but all the Mustang 2+2 badging remained and it did not have any GT 350 badging or striping. Never the less I was constantly asked if it was a Shelby, over time I got really tired of explaining that it was my interpretation of what a 2+2 should be not Shelby's. My suggestion is don't do a Nismo clone, make your own custom Z, you'll be happier in the long run. |
