I would start at the shop and try to get them to fix it. Next step is to go to your insurance (assuming that's who you filed the claim through), explain the situation, and get them to either force the body shop to fix it or let you take it to another shop (find one with with a good reputation for paint). I wouldn't bother with the diminished value because I'd rather correct the problem and have a color matched bumper properly done

i got 700 dollars from that guy insurance and i brought my car to body shop called bumper to bumper (one of my friend told me to go there).and i pay 600 dollars cash to fix my car and the bumper fixed and i pick up my car at night didnt see the different color but i realize the next day when my car under the sun i can tell the different color. the worse part is some one in the body shop drove my car for 17 miles and i pretty sure they used my car to drift or play donut cause the tired is not good as before.

That sucks dude. I wouldn't consider that friend a friend anymore if he recommended a shop for your Z that does poor work and abuses a customer's car

It also sounds like you dealt directly with the other person's insurance company. I always file a claim with my own insurance company and let them deal with the other person's insurance. When I file a claim through my own insurance, they are the one who pays the body shop. So if I'm not satisfied with the work, I can inform my insurance company who will deal with the body shop. I can choose to have them fix the work, or I can go to a different shop altogether. Either way, the insurance company goes to bat for me against the shop that screwed up.

Man that really sucks I would try to get with theirs & your insurance & say that it wasn't fixed correctly. In the future when ever you have body work done bring as many people with you as you can on pick up day to go over the car. The more eyes the better as sometimes we are just anxious to get the vehicle back we miss a lot things. I've been there & learned the hard way a long time ago

If there is anything wrong, refuse to accept the car right then & there signing nothing as that is about the only time your are going to have any leverage. Having taken possession of it might be the downfall of this situation.

Best of luck

Lawyer up!

But seriously, if this did go through your insurance you do still have recourse. They have to hold the body shop accountable for shoddy work and especially for the joyriding (which is impossible to prove) but you can use it as leverage perhaps your insurance can use when dealing with the body shop. At this point I would utilize any help you can get through your insurance to right the wrongs that were done.

Its true the worst thing that you did was take that car without a proper inspection from the shop post work. I had this happen when I had a transformer explode and shower my glass roof maxima with molten lead. IT cracked every single window pane on the car. The shop did a horrible job, the sunroof didnt open, it was just a junk job. I refused to take the car and called my insurance company. They had a rep there to deal with it for me on my behalf and the wrongs were corrected...

Good luck and try not to stress too much. Its just a car and can be fixed, good thing no one was hurt. All of life is a learning experience, and now you are better prepared for the future!

usually that means you have to pay your deductible to your insurance company. if you go through the other party's insurance, then no deductible (assuming they were at fault).

Factory paint isn't going to match either. They made many different batches of paint, and none seem to be the same

I'm sorry to hear, that's quite depressing to hear/know! As others have said I would try and get with your insurance and get it properly fixed! To me a Z is not worth half-assing anything on

So one shop quoted 700? So insurance payed you 700 dollars, You then hear from your buddy that there is another shop that will do it for 600 dollars.

Wait- they damaged the Amuse bumper and their estimate was only $700 to get it fixed and painted? Holy lowball, Batman. Body shops can match paint to where you'll never know the difference. Well, a good body shop can. I don't think Homie G's Discount Body Shop and Prepaid Cellphones can, and that's where your buddy steered you. Kick him in the nuts, and then keep going back to the body shop until they get it fixed. Talk to the insurance company as well. Keep bitching at all involved parties until you're satisfied with the results.
