I was at VA Tech for grad school and one of the secretaries had a (new) 3000GT Twin Turbo with "PBXRL" on the plate. I couldn't make sense of it and for years I figured "paburaxil" meant something special in some strange dialect. I actually don't fully agree with this. For instance, my Eclipse has the plate "1NFOS3C." I also have a "HACK" sticker next to it (hack the planet sticker, to be clear).

If you know the industry or have some ties to IT, you can probably guess "info sec" being short for information security, which is my area.

My parents still sometimes ask what it means, and I get the question every now and then by strangers. I don't mind explaining it, and it's really just a wink and nod to those that do get it.

My Z's plates that are waiting for me are "SEC Z." Same wink and nod, but at least it now doubles as "sexy" with a Z in it.

I didn't get Sinister Z, but I probably would have if I were behind you at a light for a while. Eventually if I don't get a plate, I'll just start saying it out loud, and often that solves it.

Thats what I figured people would do because thats what I usually do when I don't understand a plate that I come across... and I wouldn't mind explaining it anyways, I went around and asked a couple of friends if they understood it before ordering it and most were able to figure it out.

Agreed. I checked H2O Doc in VA and it is taken. OHO Doc would be stoichiometrically correct, but might need explanation.

I saw 58008, and it took me a while to figure out that it spells "BOOBS" in your rear view mirror. That, I like; giving the finger to the Man in VA while celebrating one of god's greatest gifts to mankind.
