Performing like a track car and its physical appearance is not "flip flopping." They are 2 different categories.
Flip flopping would be like: the Nismo 370 is an awesome performer, but it could've gone through that course with a better time. or The Nismo 370 is awesome looking, but it's kinda ricey. Last edited by edeeZee; 08-01-2009 at 10:50 AM. |

This topic reminds me of the 350z forum when the NISMO came out. It took a few months for them to notice how much better in performance it was then now they all believe in it.

Well I guess Ill throw my opinion in the ring, being a NISMO owner. I really love the look of the NISMO, bearing in mind that looks are completely subjective. I loved the look of the NISMO 350Z as well, but many didn't like it either. Performance wise, Its a great car. I think the 370z in almost all aspects is a step up performance wise, so Its not like the NISMO is a dud or anything, I think people need to keep in mind that although Nissan claims its the track ready car, Its not. They didn't put an oil cooler, or a better diff in it, its not the end all be all track ready car they might want to sell it as, mainly because that would make the price above the magical 40k mark. To me, its more of a alternative to the touring model, as they are almost comparable price wise. Ones for the people who like a little more luxury, the other is for the people who like a little more performance, the issue is that no one has really seen a benefit to the 18 extra ponies yet, or upgraded suspension etc, but Im sure the NISMO will hold its own, as long as we keep things in perspective; Its still a sub 40k sports car.

No it doesnt equate to that. I LOVE Honda I own multiple Honda products and have never been un happy with them (granted they have all been dirt oriented product). I just found the avatar to be quite entertaining so I put it up there. Mainly because it had my two favorite brands in it and it was the only one i could find with both of their emblems on there. So no, its not like that at all.

The simple question one must answer before buying one is this: is a catback exhaust, couple diff. body panels, jazzy interior and slightly stiffer suspension really worth an extra $6000? Oh, and one more: Do I plan to modify this at ALL? If yes to the first question, then go for it. Yes to the second, then you may as well piss your money away because you can get more car simply buying the base or base w/ sport and upgrading that. Not like everyone doesn't know that already of course...

Ermmm - he was trying to prove that the magazine review wasnt flip-flopping at all. His statement about it being "awesome looking, but ricey" was a perfect example of flip-flopping, because they contradict each other.

Most people don't walk up to the owner of a car and tell them to their face that it looks like a boy-racer pile of poo, though . That rear bumper is something only a mother could love (or a NISMO fanatic). I could set up a picnic on it.
I'm all about function over form, but I think it could have looked a LOT better. On the plus side, at least the seam-welded chassis of the 350Z NISMO made it worth it. Sure, you didn't make "more" HP but a cat-back would net you the same type of gain that people will get with the new NISMO's exhaust.
