Trolley Jack question
 

Looking to buy a floor jack, 370Z on 19" Wheels, not lowered. The jack I'm looking at has a minimum height of 5.5 inches, does any know if it will get under the Z. Low profile jacks are just too expensive.

I picked up a low profile jack at pepboys 2 ton for 90. Im lowered and it still fits under.

I think that's going to be too tall for the center jack point and rear jack point at the very least. It may be too tall for the sides as well. If you ever lower the car it'll be more of a problem. Driving up on some 2x4s would most likely allow the jack to work. Harbor Freight/Northern Tool usually has a pretty good low profile jack for a fairly reasonable price.

Get the right tools for the right job. It will kick you in the a$$ down the road if you don’t.

Harbor Freight has a jack that has a minimum saddle point of 2-5/8 inches, and it's usually for sale around 80 bucks with a coupon. ^^

I do have a 1 inch drop. However, this Floor Jack from Harbor Freight works awesome. A member above mentioned the 2.5 Ton Floor Jack from Harbor Freight, IMHO the 2 Ton Floor Jack (URL above) is nicer because it's longer and lower. I actually purchased two of them when on sale. Wait for a sale and get them for about $89 each. This floor jack makes lifting the Z a breeze. I use both floor jacks in conjunction to lift both sides of the front and/or rear together. Yes ... I'm a little anal, I know.:tiphat:

I support the vehicle by placing the jack stands underneath the frame of the vehicle. I'm by no means a professional mechanic, so do this at your own risk and be sure to research yourself. Below are some pictures you may find helpful.

+1 for harbor freight. If you can't afford $80 we can't really help you. Even at 2.5" I'm not lowered and I STILL have to drive up on 2x4s to get under the car because the center jack point is too far under the car. Good luck with 5.5"

I have this HF 39" model Low Profile Floor Jack - 2 Ton, Rapid Pump® Jack and although it slides under my Z lowered on Swifts, it's still not long enough the reach the front lift point.

No matter what jack you get, the front wheels are going to have to roll up on something first. I use wood for now but I'll be getting the longest Race Ramps I can afford in time. It's money well spent.

Hmmm ... I'm lowered on Eibachs (just at 1 inch) and the floor jack you mention reaches my lift point with a 1/2 inch to spare. I'm guessing Swifts lowered your Z more than an inch, therefore it doesn't reach.

Could be, plus the little chin spoiler on mine starts to hit the jack before I can get it all the way in.

I want ramps anyway because I don't always need to jack up my car and take the wheels off. Sometimes, just driving the front or rear up is faster and easier.

I got this jack with a coupon it was $60. the thing weighs a TON but has no problem lifting the Z and is low enough to reach the frame on the sides and the differential in the rear.

It is fairly low profile, has 3.5 Ton lifting capacity, and 21"+ maximum saddle height. I typically drive my passenger wheel up onto a 2x10 board to give me enough clearance to reach the front center jack point. At stock height the jack fits all the way under the car without touching the undershroud. However, my front chin spoiler gets in the way of the handle going up and makes the first part very inefficient as the strokes are very short until the car starts to lift. That minor issue along with the fact that the thing weighs nearly 100 lbs and leaves marks when I drag it around my painted garage floor are the only cons. Everything else is :tup:

I haven't checked it out in person yet nor measured it compared to the Z but it looks interesting.

Nice find. Looks like something only Jay Leno can afford to prop up his Duesenberg though. My budget is more Home Depot lumber style for now.
