Brake Pads mileage question.
How many miles did your stock pad last?
I got the sport brakes and it's hard to see if there are any pads left (even took the wheel off to check, but still can't see). Any suggestions? (other than taking the pads out?) Thanks in advance. |
I'm at 35k

If you have the wheel off just take 1 more minute, pull the pins on the caliper and the pads will lift right out.

It varies greatly depending on your driving style. I went thru the rear Oem pads in ONE day at the track. So I'm an extreme example. Just food for thought.

I literally just replaced mine last week. Rotors were fine, didn't need resurfacing so just needed pads. I'm sitting at 114000 on the odo now. To get a good line of sight to see how much pad you have left you will have to remove the wheel.

Thanks for the info.
I just changed a set of tires at 40k KM. So I figured with my driving, the pads should last me 80k KM no problem. Thanks again. |
My mechanic " your brakes are in awesome shape but your tires are pretty much worn out.
My response was "I have brakes?...!" That was at 17,000 km. |
Haha, the sport brakes should last a while. Those things are beefy and don't take a lot to stop. Just don't ride the brake pedal unnecessarily. My 350z stock brakes lasted 87k miles till they started to make noise and that was with some track use but mostly canyon and street driving.

i usually use my mirror tool and flashlight to see thickness of my pads without removing anything. something like this. Amazon.com: SE 8014TM Thick Handle 27-Inch Extension Tube with 2-Inch Round Mirror: Home Improvement |
If you do your own work you will need one of these: OTC 7034 Disc Brake Pad Spreader : Amazon.com : Automotive
Super simple to use and this was by far the easiest brake job I've ever done. |
