Shift bleep notification

Do you guys leave your upshift bleep notification stock at 7500 rpm's or do you adjust it? I am thinking about adjusting it to 3500 or so.. Also I was playing around with my paddles the past few days and thought it would be cool if there was a voice notification to shift because I was so focused on the road and not my tac.

You might want to do this in a mini van not in a z bro.:driving:

Edit: Unless your in break-in period.:)

CSGLEON 06-26-2013 09:36 PM

Just to get used to the paddles and smooth shifting. In auto it irritates me when I'm going 40 and the car is in 6th gear and boggy when it should be in 3rd or 4th. So I have been having to paddle down and get used to it. If I'm going 40 it's in 6th gear and if I don't mash the peddle it kinda just bogs along. But when I mash it... It of course lags a little bit and downshifts to the gear it needs to be and "GOES" so I'm trying to get more used to just manually shifting.

bdavis89 06-26-2013 09:43 PM

Not sure why'd you want to move it to 3500 rpm? That'd be really annoying. The power really kicks in when you hit 4000+, but of course you don't want to stay there unless your on a track or doing really aggressive driving.

I would just practice with the manual shifting, get to learn the rpm vs speed correlations. Sometimes I'll downshift too many times and it will bang on the limiter for a second or two. Its a learning process.

kenchan 06-26-2013 09:44 PM

you should aways think 2seconds into the future (minimum) while driving.

thats and learn to listen to the engine

MX52Z 06-26-2013 10:14 PM

We have a shift bleep notification?

edub370 06-26-2013 10:31 PM

^^ This..???

Birdbrain 06-26-2013 10:43 PM

I set mine at 5500. I'm getting old and stupid(er) and find myself forgetting sometimes whether I'm in auto or manual mode....the flashing light at 5500 is a reminder to stop trying to remember if I took my Geratol and to pay attention to the fun at hand.

CSGLEON 06-26-2013 11:01 PM

Yeah I'm still getting used to my 370. My last ride was an exterra.

sparky 06-27-2013 12:58 AM

Leave car in manual mode all the time, shift gears like you would in a standard, enjoy the SRM. Learn to listen and feel the car and don't look at the shift light.
This car gear hunts and lags like all ATīs, manual mode is way more fun. :driving:

CSGLEON 06-27-2013 01:31 AM

Yes I agree about the gear hunting and that is what is disappointing to me. If I want juice! I have to floor it and expect a bit of lag for it to downshift and give me what I want! Otherwise if I just want more speed and push on the pedal, it still stays In 6th gear at 40-50 mph at 1500 rpm's. It's irritating! So its like either punch it and expect lag and power or paddle down 2 gears and get the power I need! So that being said! I'm going to start using trip or the paddles.

Haboob 06-27-2013 09:09 AM

I played with it, but ended up leaving it at like 7,000. I never get the shift light to turn on, because I drive like a grandma, but it's there.

Chuck33079 06-27-2013 09:11 AM

Mine's set at 7200, so I have a chance to shift before I slam into the rev limiter. It was really handy during breakin as well.

Mt Tam I am 06-27-2013 09:18 AM

Mine is set at 7,000 rpm and my ears tell me to shift as well.

FPenvy 06-27-2013 09:21 AM

wait you have a 7AT and you have a shift light/bleep? i'm confused since i'm pretty sure thats only in the 6MT. that or i am missing something.

I'm sure it'd be on the 7AT too, since it has manual mode... check your settings.

i only drive in manual mode and got 25K miles on my car and never found that light ever going on. i only see the "VDC off" light everyday lol

Haboob 06-27-2013 09:30 AM

Guess you're shifting too soon, kid!

Damn, I should have. :shakes head:

And with the way I drive, everyone is shifting a lot higher than I am.

redline or bust bro :tiphat:

i go to the drag strip a lot and shift pretty high when driving anyways lol i drive "slightly aggressive"

but really with the 7AT you guys get the shift light to come on? i really think that is a 6MT thing only

JARblue 06-27-2013 09:44 AM

I set mine at 4K for DD, and I just ignore it when I'm having fun.

DIGItonium 06-27-2013 10:15 AM

I need a money shift bleep notification feature. With that money shift, I scream out all sorts of expletives that need to be bleeped out haha.

You can technically rig up a loud buzzer if you can source the shift indicator signal as a trigger.

So you know when to drop the clutch.

FPenvy 06-27-2013 10:20 AM

i still want to hear from the OP who says his 7AT has a shift light come on. i'm interested now. wonder if his traction control light is coming on and he thinks its time to shift lol

Haboob 06-27-2013 10:21 AM

Take a break and go check it on yours?

where would i check? i've been through all menus and options in the past 2 years and i drive my car hard. never had that light go on. i'm 99% sure its 6MT only lol

Haboob 06-27-2013 10:25 AM

Pfft, I don't have that little menu memorized. Isn't it like Settings > Effects > Upshift? I am pretty sure the actual item is Upshift (or at least "Upshift" is in the title).

"menu" and "lunch" in the same sentense to haboob will distract him too much from any kind of Z related discussion. :rofl2:
