First week ...
OK, I've had the 370 for just over a week now. Impressions.... well, I'm not sure. I am holding myself back from experiencing the true "potential" of the engine's performance (read: driving like a pansy). But, I will be travelling to the Canadian Rockies this coming weekend, and after I get back it should be time for the first oil change and the engine will be properly broken in.
Car washes (first week) : 2 Gas mileage : WHO CARES! Mileage travelled (first week) : 1170 kilometers People coming up to talk to me about the car : 9 People trying to goad me into a race : 6 Looks (gawks) : endless (no really, lots!) Sound of the Stillen induced exhaust : incredible (rumble-nicious) The car is really not as easy as it looks to clean. I thought the 19" Rays would be a cinch to clean. Not really. And the "lowness" of the car does not really help a 5'8" person to reach the middle of the hood and roof. All in all, compared to my last ride ('08 Honda Accord coupe 3.5L 6MT), in a word... WOW!! So much more comfortable in the seat. Both driving and sitting. One major complaint though. And I had the same complaint with the Honda. The satellite radio channel switching "thingy" does not work on the steering wheel. Now come on Nissan!! You would think that with steering wheel audio controls you "should" be able to toggle up and down the different channels when you've got the satellite radio on. Nope! Everytime you move the up/down button on the steering wheel, it takes you to "preview channel 1". Very annoying, but the Honda did the same thing. Bugs... hate them! It would seem that the bugs really like the car too. I've washed them off twice now in the first week. Oh well, I guess they know a good thing when they run into it. So, it brings me back to my first sentence. My impressions are good. No problems. Car looks and feels great. But as with "initial quality surveys", they really don't hold much water with me. We'll see in a few months. Keep you posted... |
Congrats on your Z!
You've been hanging around here for a while now, so you should pretty much know what to expect. Were there any surprises for you? |

Surprises? Not really. I had driven a few of them (test drives). The most surprising aspect was just how comfortable I feel in the car. The driving feel is amazing. The clutch and gearbox are a lot smoother than my old Honda's. And the seats are just great! Only one adjustment since I first sat in the new car! |

Glad to hear you're enjoying your car.
Any initial impressions on the blind spot? Some new outlets make a big deal about it, while actual 370Z owners dismiss it as an over-hyped issue. What say you? Martin P.S. post some pics.... |
Congrats on the new car!
Break that engine in! That has to be the worst part of a new car. It just teases you |

Hey 6MT! Congrats on the car! I'm glad you're loving the thing. I noticed the same as you... I have an '09 Infiniti FX35 as well, and this little shoebox of a car is more comfortable than my luxury/sport cruiser! I can't even believe how comfortable those seats are!
Okay, about this satellite radio problem... This is how it works on my FX. Now I know I can't just scroll up and down the channels on the wheel, which yes, is annoying. If you program in your favorites on a memory bank, you can scroll through your favorite sat channels, but that is all. It's a halfway fix, but give that a shot. I didn't get the touring model, so I don't have it, but know that my FX is really similar to all the other Nissan telematic system. Hopefully that will help you out a bit, but not completely solve the XM problem. Enjoy! |
