"So which one of these fine cars would I buy? It’s a tough call, but the Camaro edges out the Z because it’s more practical; with a family I need space for my wife and kids. If I weren’t concerned about passengers then I would get the Nissan."

full of fail. just get another car for family needs... and get the Z.

the SS is good for 12.9-13.1. The 1LE, like the one in the article, is actually good for closer to 12.7-12.8. The main difference between the two is the 1LE comes with much more aggressive gearing. The motor is the same between the two. The Z on the other hand is more like a 13.2-13.4 car.

I have to agree though, they both feel about the same in terms of acceleration. It's not until you actually race them that the difference will become apparent. I'm actually taking my Nismo 370z to the strip this friday to rune against my fiance's Camaro SS 6MT

Also I'm not sure i agree about the traction aspect with the Z he mentioned. Maybe it's the roads here covered with dust but the Camaro is far better with traction and easier to control compared to the Z. Adding PSS tires to my Z drastically helped over the stock tires but still, the Camaro is superior in terms of traction. Don't get me wrong, my Z will eat the camaro alive in auto-x (done it multiple times already) but in day to day spirited driving the Camaro is just easier to control and much more forgiving when the *** end gets loose

I've been tempted to get a 1LE myself but just can't seem to do it. The Z just looks better, more exotic, and when you sit inside it you feel like your in a sports car. With the Camaro they are a dime a dozen and sitting in it almost feels boring; that is until you hit the gas.

Only thing Camaro has going for it is that engine! The rest of the car looks like hot mess. It has to be one of the ugliest designs ever produced. I have rode in the back seat of a Camaro you have 0 room. They should just dump the back seat and make it a 2 seater.

I have been driving my z with my 7 month old in there. I hate strapping the seat in, but man it is so nice to jam his bottle and paci back in his mouth without getting out.

Have a couple friends that are engaged to each other. One has a Z, the other has a Camaro. They recently bought a Subaru for a family car.

I would not buy either car if I was looking for a family car. Neither is a family car period. You better have a second vehicle, or not have kids.

Pretty spot on review except, I can get way more than just few bags of groceries in my trunk. The most i put in groceries... $275 worth. That's not just a couple bags. But small kids do fit in the back of the Camaro, even though it finds rather difficult.
The camaro and Z share something in common. They are both excellent road cars and when you throw in the 1LE pkg/sportpkg. It makes the camaro/Z what it should have been as base cars, handling-wise.

Can't wait to see the performance improvements that have happened in the camaro over the last two years get transferred into the smaller, lighter alpha platform. the 1LE/ZL1 suspension pkg is probably the most important breakthrough in GM over the last decade for a GT car.

Styling, both the Z and camaro have styling that isn't for everyone. But both are extremely fun cars to drive. GM, please do something with the Camaro's interior, please???

I love both cars though. Enjoyed reading.
