Whats weird is seeing a really nice 370Z with tons of work done to it with a round or square small concave mirror stuck on. It works but not visually pleasing. That's what I had before, so i went with the blue tinted inserts.

Once I adjusted the mirror so that just the very edge of the door handle is visible at the edge of the mirror, the blind spot went away. I don't need to see the side of the car, I know where that is. To be fair, I can imagine backing up is a huge pain in the *** without the camera.

I came from 10 years of Miata driving where the blind spots are even worse with the top up so the mirror adjustment is second nature. I agree about backing out of a space though, I just go super slow so, hopefully, someone sees me if I don't see them!

My sister's got a Miata. There's no visibility with the top up at all. It's a fun little car. I just wish I could drive it. Size 13EE feet don't allow one to hit only the gas or brake. It's both.

Exactly!
Yeah, I had a lot of fun in my little NA. I had to remove the door pull and the visors to fit in the car...lol. When sitting straight up with the top down I could almost see over the windshield. My feet are normal width so that wasn't a problem but due to my height and proportions I'm physically incapable of heel-toe shifting so I'm loving the SRM in the Z!

Me too. I bought a pair, stuck them on to test fit, and pulled them right back off.

You must have your seat set far forward. Because with the seat set back so you can jump off the clutch without riding it, there is no way you can see the nothing but the side of your car. The problem is the mirrors even though big don't push out far enough.

So whats the solution?
I just got the car and the blind spot is really bothering me. I can't drive the car like I can my old ones, I need that 100% confidence and assurance to switch lanes. I'm so paranoid that I used to always turn my head back to physically check to make sure there are no cars in my blind spot before I make any moves. I just don't trust mirrors. |

I don't have any problems while driving, but then again, my mirrors are properly adjusted! I do agree that backing out of a parking space can be a bitch, especially parked next to a SUV.
I don't even use the inside mirror. No way to see anything with the spoiler blocking the view!

The solution is very very simple.
A convex broadway mirror thats 360mm+. I bought one today, and when used with properly adjusted side mirrors. Its amazing. You have to adjust the mirrors so the view is 3/4 the rear window + 2/3 of the passenger side windows. I can see literally everything on the passenger side. If you buy the 400mm convex mirror you should be able to see 100% of the rear window as well. 10/10 would recommend. |
