V8 in 370Z
I fond this info, don't know if I'm the last person to hear about this but I'll just post anyway!!! :icon17:
Quote: There have been a couple of new developments since our last report, the most significant of them being a V8 which could end up powering a high performance version of the Z34 which will be identifiable by a “G-nose” modified front bumper reminiscent of the S30 240Z. The G-nose will add even more 240Z flavor to the Z34 making it a kind of “new retro”, a phrase coined by Best Car to describe the mix of old and new influences Best car interviewed Z34 Chief of Production Shinjiro Yukawa last month and he confirmed that a V8 could see the light of day in a special edition model. Yukawa mentioned he wanted to “raise the performance of the new Z” while also acknowledging the Porsche Cayman S as being the Z34’s primary contender when it hits showrooms in December this year. The Z34 will of course be powered by a VQ37HVR engine from the V36 Skyline Coupe as we mentioned in our last update, only this time power is said to be slightly lower at 340ps but with the same 38.5kg/m torque. That shouldn’t matter though as the Z34 is rumored to weigh up to 100kg less than the Z33 350Z which should give it a useful boost in performance over the current model. A 6-speed manual and 7-speed “manual mode” automatic transmissions are still on the agenda. ;) |

that same V8 hype was out there for the G too but never happened. Now a G50S would be kick a$$
|
iono, that v8 still seems extremely unlikely in the Z
|
Don't we all wish. As much as I love turboed cars, a V8 in a Z would make me skeet. But I'm happy with what the new 370z is already packing. Can't wait to drive one.

Really??? A V8 in a Z stock?
NO. 350 Chevy motors should not be mounted. (Seen plenty of emm), nor should a stock V8 development be mounted as factory option. |
That would be nice but I doubt it would happen, nor would it be affordable (for most people).

Most likely in the Infiniti line.... Nissan would never!
|
it's not going to happen, it's all rumors........i tell ya.......just like how the V8 was suppose to be in the Baby G.....

Not the first time Nissan played with the V8 Z Car idea. IMO it won't happen with the 370Z. Wouldn't make sense with the GTR now in the mix not to mention the world economy in the state it's in.
Here's Paul Newman's V8 280ZX race car. http://alex62.typepad.com/imsablog/i...5/newman81.jpg |

Nissan has no offering in the 40k to 50k sports car segment . Nissan has yet to address this segment--base Corvette (430HP), Dodge Challenger SRT-8 (425HP), Camaro Z28 SS (420HP), Ford Shelby GT500 (500HP), etc., etc. Nissan's VK50VE, which is based on the VQ V6, would fit this segment nicely with 390HP & 369 lb-ft of torque. Price it just below the base Corvette and Nissan will have another awesome machine at an incredible bargain in this price segment. And 390HP is nowhere near the 485HP of the GTR--so don't give any silly arguments of how a V8 Z car would be a threat to the GTR. Like I said--apples to oranges. Why a V8? The answer is simple. Purist Sports Car . (No forced induction wizardry, bells & whistles, & techno gizmos to make power). Incidentally, it would be the polar opposite of the GTR. A purist sports car--N/A V8 Z would embody a purist approach to driving enjoyment combined with agressive looks, great handling, and a gorgeous exhaust note. It would represent an outstanding/best in class value in this segment. Nissan! If you build it, we will buy it! |

Sorry, there will be no V8 Z Car. :) |

Yes the Z has always been a "bang for the buck" sports car. And it would still represent the best bang for the buck in the 40k-50k segment if priced below every other competitor in that segment. That is the point i'm trying to get across! In other words, there's a huge gap in Nissan's sports car portfolio--there's no offering to fill the empty space bewteen the 370z and the GTR. Maybe it should be an entirely new car, but that gap should be filled. |
