Default Swap my old engine to brand new engine... mod the car right away or not?

Hi guys.

Here's the situation. Last week, engine service light popped up on my Z while driving and felt that the Z was something wrong, so I towed my Z to a Nissan and let them investigate what was wrong. I just got called from them that they could not find what was wrong with the engine, so they decided to send my old engine to Japan and let them investigate and giving me a brand new engine.

But, here's the thing. Before my Z broke down, I was planning to mod my Z exhaust and intake. I heard that I lose my warranty if I mod my car. So I'm concerned what to do. If I do the exhaust and intake right away after I get my car back and the Z break down again, then I have to cover all the cost. Or just drive 1k miles around and do the mods after seeing there's nothing wrong with the engine.

What will you guys do, if you guys were me ...

P.S ahhh I have to break my engine again..................

You can MOD your car IE Exhaust and CAI and it does not void the warranty. Now if you have the long tube CAI and it sucks in water Yes it will be your fault. But getting the short tail CAI you will be ok.

The Exhaust will not cause a engine to fail.

Plus the rule of thumb is if you feel like your car is running like crap and wanna run it to Nissan remove all the MODS that could have caused the issue IE the CAI.

My dealership is ran by a young racer fella so he does the blindeye when I bring my car in for work. Gotta have the right people on your side.

Yeah. That pretty much summed it up.

I recently wanted to go with a particular set of intakes but since they require a tune (which certainly will void your warranty if discovered) I decided to wait since I did purchase the extended warranty. I don't feel like flushing $2k down the drain for an intake. I can wait. Probably be another year or so. When the car is no longer a DD I'll be diving in and going void happy.

A CAI really don't give you any gains. Its more of a fashion statement. Get a FI exhaust and your be good!

Wait till it's sorda broken-in or at least till you are confident the installation of the NEW engine went well and there aren't any issues.

If you decide to MOD? The parts you're replacing will not be covered under warranty.

If you have a failure or issue and the trouble is traced to the aftermarket parts? The warranty will not cover the broken part.

The warranty for the rest of the car is still in effect.

Ok. I'm not beating this dead horse again. You have an opinion. It's in the minority here. Many people have shown results. You disagree, as is your right. I'm done. OP, sorry for derailing your thread.

Put a turbo on your car and call it a day if you need more HP. The NA gains are minimal and expensive.
