Plus anything with a BOSS tag is going to hold its value more in this country. probably. But at the rate you run through cars, might as well get one and get a lambo next week...

Let me try to be objective here. Being a Ford kid as I grew up. My Dad was a Ford executive. I liked/loved Fords. After experiencing Z cars many years ago I became a Nissan fan due to their quality and durability. I own a Supercharged '98 Firebird that has great quality and I believe that the Mustang over the years has improved as much in the quality arena. However, the Mustang, Camaro, Corvette and Firebird interior always have seemed really cheap to me. I've owned them all. The exception to this rule might be the C7 Corvette which could me my next purchase in 2015 if all goes well. The one thing about American sports cars is that generally the interior is a step down or two from a German or Japanese production car. The fit of these American cars has improved over the years but, the finish and interior not so much over the years.
I too have thought about getting a Lime Green Boss 302 to drive it till it's got 100K on the clock. However, my 370Z will last well over 200K just like all my other Z's. So, if your buying it to drive daily for the next 10 years. Buy a Z. IMO if your buying to drive it for the next 5 years get the Ford. If you are a low mileage driver (10K per year) you might have your Mustang last 10year without major rebuild. That's my take. The Z last longer and will stay in better condition over the years. Just look at a few five year old Z's verses a few five year old Mustang's (some Z members call them Rustangs) and you'll see.

Couldn't agree more. If I end up keeping my 370z, I'm boosting and never looking back. Well I might look back to see everyone I race in the rear view mirror haha

This is the perfect solution. I was thinking the same thing. I'd love to go with a Stillen Kit. My problems is putting another 10K in my Firebird would easily get me a 7 second car. Putting that same 10K into the Z might get 10 second car. Hence the dilemma.

Ah, just sell them all and get a C7. Hopefully, there will be a ZR1 version with over 750HP. That would cause me to stand up and take notice of GM again.
Not likely ...

I don't really agree with this. My '11 5.0 had less problems than my '09 370Z and both seemed to be about the same in terms of build quality. I'd expect a new Mustang to last just as long as a new Z under the same conditions.

The only difference being that the Mustang will look years newer than the Z after 10 years since all of Nissan's terrible paint and clear will have melted off by then. The Nissan doesn't even come close to the Ford in terms of paint quality/durability.

Driver is everything.

BUT... forums are for bench/magazine racing.

What's funny is so many people here argue so hard about cars (lets say 5.0 and Z) that are within a second or two of each other on track, but if you put them on track in said cars they would probably get passed by some track pro in a Miata.

+1 Agree'd. I watched the TopGear episode where Jeremy ran the new Shelby GT500 down to Italy. Loved the power but did not like the lack of refinement. Thats why I have a Z.

Plus the useless comparisons of muscle cars to the Z is annoying. Let me know when the 240 was ever a muscle car. Or any other Z. They have been sporscars from day 1 in an affordable package. They were never muscle or street/drag racers by design.

Even the motoring press know that. The comparison is price only, the competition in class is the Cayman among others like it.

But in the US, most people are shopping on price. Someone that "wants a sporty car" is going to look at every sporty car in their price range.

That type of buyer is far more common than an enthusiast that says "I want a Z" or "I want a Mustang" or "I want a Corvette." I'll go out on a limb and say that most people that actively post on this forum didn't even have to think about buying their Z.

I wanted to be that different type. Nobody in my little town had one at the time. But they all had Mustang/Camero.

People don't tend to turn heads for the American cars they see everybody multiple times a day. But with the Z it seems everyone is curious.

I'd do my research, but I don't really care enough. Do Mustangs have independent rear suspension yet?
