Default Insurance and mods

For the people who have several thousand in mods how do you cover your loses in a serious wreck or theft. Will the insurance companies cover mods if you have receipts or do you have to have extra coverage?

Who here garages there modded Z's and who doesn't? Those who don't how do you deal with leaving it outside unattended while you sleep?

Insurance won't cover 99% of your mods.
State Farm SAYS they pay up to $1500 worth of mods... What they don't tell you is that the mods need to add value. Which no mods really do.

You can talk to them to cover your mods, but the cost usually outweighs the coverage

Now when you say mods

Would a aftermarket radio, speakers, subs count as mod's?

i guess so. insurance will pay to replace your factory stereo which could cost more than your aftermarket HU.

IIRC one member got his sport wheel stolen, the insurance company gave the guy $6000 back.

Maybe $4500 with the tires? (Sport wheels are $750/each) and regular insurance covers that.

Agree with this. I've had agreed value policies on cars like an older Viper and an FFR Cobra, but I don't think I would do it with the Z. Keep all your receipts, and talk to your agent 'before" you become a victim....
