Need Advice please, 79,000 too many miles if I plan to own for next 3 years?
yeah, that's pretty much it. I've been in love with the look of the 350 and now 370 and i'm a junior in college and have been saving for awhile and fixing to sell my truck and sea doo so I'll have about 20,000 to spend. Here's my three options, all three have the sport and touring package and are manual, but one has 30,000 and is priced at 24,000 and one has 26,000 miles priced at 27,000 and one has 79,000 and priced at 20,000. So, should i take a small loan out and get the lower mileage? I have two more years of college and would rather not have to have the risk of not being able to make the loan payment. But I want to know if the 79,000 mile one would be reliable enough for me to drive till i finish my chemical engineering degree and then I'd be able to easily afford a new one. I know most people are going to tell me to just wait but I am so sick of my truck and I have loved and wanted a Z for as long as i can remember. Thanks for any advice

I say take ya time and look around awhile ... a better deal then those ya presented will pop up if ya look hard enough :icon14:
Last year I got my 2010 SP 6MT with 1,476 miles for 26K |

Something doesnt add up.. |
It really depends on the previous owner, but I'd spend a bit more for newer and or lower mileage.
|
Miles don't really mean anything. It just matters how well it's been maintained. I'd still rather go with a lower mileage one myself. Just choose a car that will for sure keep you happy
|
low miles is 12K in 4yrs... like my car. :p

Sad thing is I've noticed DD is taking a slow but inexorable toll on the car in a lot of ways. Oh well! |
Appreciate all the input, ima keep looking for a few more weeks. I dont know how much longer i cant wait though. I'm going to be the happiest man alive when i finally get my dream car. haha

We all know that feeling!
Good Luck, and don't impulse buy! PS: When I bought mine I got a 5 day 150? mile return policy - although I knew I'd never give it up. |

Back to topic... OP, I'd pick the 30k miles for $24k one if I have to choose from the 3 you listed. And also, do test drive them include the auto transmissiom ones. I've seen the question you asked in the other thread. Surprisingly, the rumors are the auto 370z feels more torquey and faster than the manual 370z. A lot of folks regret getting a manual not a auto although I am still enjoying mine.:driving::tup: So do test drive both! |
79k is too much for the next 3 years. Hold out and wait for a better deal. Otherwise keep driving what you got. You've got to think about the resale price when you're done with it. If you enjoy driving, theres not choice but the stick. If you just want to look big time, it doesnt matter because girls wont care.

I have Daily driven my car since I bought it. Mine is an 09 and has 60k miles and runs like day 1. Never had a problem with it... There is a member on here with over 100k with no problem, therefore I personally wouldn't see your problem with the miles. My issue that you would have since you are young is insurance and the fact that the car eats up tires. That's a hefty expense for a college student. I am starting my senior year, so I would know :icon17:

Look further out:
I bought my 2011 M6+Sports with <20K mi for $25,000~. 500 miles from where I live |
I'm sort of in the same boat as the OP. Rather than make a new thread I'll just ask here if you guys don't mind...
I have about 20k to spend on a 370z. What kind of prices do you guys think I should be able to get away with paying cash money on 2010 Base model 6spd. I mean I've heard of guys buying cars where they pay 15k cash for a car that the seller was asking 24k for. This is locally in my area where Z's aren't really popular. It's mostly Mustang and Camaros around my way. What do you guys think? |

Have you looked at leasing new? I'm in negotiation now and so far best I got was a 2013 sport package at $424 with $424 down at 39mo, and 12k yr. $399 with $415 down for a base. Needless to say for only $25 a sport package is the way to go!! Not sure why the gap isn't bigger since the two cars about $2600 price difference but it must have to do with resale and residual value. If you're only looking to spend 20k than you're gonna pay around $380 a month. For only $20 more or $45 more I'd buy new all day. When the lease is up you can keep her and still pay around $400 maybe or get a brand new 2016 and new have to worry about miles!

almost at 110k here, still going strong after the SLU being replaced
|
All other things being equal, I'd spend a bit more and get the lower mileage choice.
|
Leasing the car is the dumbest idea ever.
|
ive had my Z for just now over 2 years now and im at the 11,5** mark.... 75 k seems real high.
don't play the dealer game. make them play your game. |

I don't know the buy out yet so ill use my current vehicle. $312 a month for 35 months. Residual is $21000 which will be $396 for 60 months after the lease. Total out of pocket $34,600. A buy would have been $582 for 60 months so $34,920 total out of pocket. The lease wins in the end and in the monthly payment. |
or you can just buy mine ;)
2011 base + sport red 6mt. |
