I'd also like to request one final time that this thread returns to it's original intention, which is to request personal experience only. I'm not looking for people to tell me I'm stupid to consider them for a tune only. Before this got out, the last I'd heard was that Sharif was the man to see to tune your car. I'm in an area where he's or two of his immediate competitors are the closest tuners to me by SEVERAL hours, and I'm making a lengthy road trip to somebody...and the way I hear it, they've all got skeletons in their closets so I'm taking a risk no matter where I go.
I'm not yet convinced that Sharif isn't the man to see for a simple tune, though I'm not sure I'm willing to consider them when it comes time to do the longer term, more involved build that I have in mind. I can't say. I will say that I have spoken with Sharif personally and given him an opportunity to explain his and the business' position, which is more than the majority of the people calling for his head have done. If you want to do business with someone whose reputation is under attack, and you have already verbally committed to it, the least you can do is be man enough to give them a chance to keep your business instead of jumping on the bandwagon. As it stands, I suppose I'm still soliciting opinions, but I will reiterate that I want personal experiences only. Please don't insult me for keeping them under consideration, or others who may be doing the same. I would like to thank everyone who helpfully contributed thus far. That being said; Triples, please close this thread or put it back in the Vendors area should this derail much further.

And I'd also like to state one final time, your initial post here referenced that thread and created doubt in your mind. In the end it's no one else's choice but yours, but give me a friggin break man, in the link you posted there are at least three other people with bad builds, and many more if you search the internet. Those are all FIRST HAND EXPERIENCES as youve requested. Even if you're not going with a big build, why on earth would you consider giving money to someone who has clearly screwed so many of your fellow car enthusiasts out of a lot of money? Way to allow him to stay in business even longer to do it to some other poor simp. I don't give a **** if it was a one time deal, that type of horrible craftsmanship and follow through doesn't deserve a 2nd chance.

You can lock your own threads.
You may have spoke to Sharif but me and several other people have deal with them at their shop, It would be a good idea for him to close his shop and find another line of work.

It sadness me to read this after being away from the VQ community for so long. I've been dealing with FP personally for since 2004, never had one issue. Yes I've done major upgrades with them, yes I spoken to all members of FP personally.
No I'm not on the bandwagon check my sig. IMO they can't lose more business, so wouldn't they go the extra mile now then ever before? The answer is yes. I'm in the position to so a FP S1 long block @ 16 psi tune and even knowing what I know now. I still trust them. Yes mistakes happen, and $250k is a lot of money, but if FP didn't make it right. That thread would still be viewable...period.. For the ones that bash FP I'm sure you have great reason, and Jon from Z1 is a master tuner no doubt. Just take in mine FP, and GTM we're one the 1st VQ shops N/A, and every shop has some level of dirt. Just so happens FP dirt was a GTR. |

I haven't heard one negative thing about z1... when asked where to go 99% of the people pointed me in that direction

But I still have a lot to learn, and I've only been back for a week now. Will read up before my opinions make me look foolish. |
