Please, you do realize Chicago's cost of living isn't exactly cheap, right? NYC drivers (especially the cabbies) are batshit crazy/stupid so I agree being under 25 and having the Z will impact premium, but I can't believe people are paying upwards of $1000+ every 6months. No matter your location/age, that's absurd.

Yeah,I feel you, but if you want to live around people who don't feel awkward for having their own thoughts and opinions without being scrutinized by a follower style society. You need to live up north for some part of your life. Living up north resists the narrow dronist mentalle of the south. :pics:

I actually prefer Chicago to NYC for two reasons: 1) there are alleys so the stinky trash isn't on the sidewalks every day and it's an overall cleaner city. 2) NYC is too congested for my comfort.

Nationwide: Full tort and collision coverage $60.00/month. But I'm an old man with a clean driving record and I've had all my coverages through Nationwide and same broker for decades.

I wasn't trying to sound disparaging :p And as Unknown iterated, NY is harsh on vehicles of any kind. I'm not doubting the cost of living in Chicago. I'm just saying...unless you're special, you're paying a lot for insurance at a younger age here.

As a side note, I was born and raised in NYC. I will always both love it and hate it with a passion :icon17:

No offense taken

I'm the same with Chicago. Right now is the love stage since it's warming up.

I had full insurance on my previous car before the Z and when I called to switch cars on my policy with Geico as i no longer owned the previous i got quoted $240 which was way more then i was used to paying on my 3-series, I wasnt liking the price so i decided to shop around, with Esurance they quoted me $773 a month (they mustve thought i bought a ferrari :gtfo2:) so they were automatically off my list. Progressive quoted me $270 a month, Allstate quoted me some where in the $300 range, and state farm quoted me $194, I called Geico back and told them i was dropping them for state farm and told them what i was quoted and the Rep went into this whole apologetic speech and did one of those "let me see what i can do" lines, long behold after about 15 mins and him back and forth with his "supervisor" he comes back and quotes me $168 a month for full insurance (im 23 yrs old no driving record, no accidents) the area i live in is a high accident rate in orlando though..but i was happy with that rate, but makes you wonder how much more people are paying and how much less we all could be paying when they can magically work numbers like that.

To each his own bruh... Chicago was built by NY'ers though. Don't forget that. Chicago wouldnt be what it is todays if it weren't for the NYC cosa nostra.

JARblue 05-08-2013 11:35 AM

My insurance is through Nationwide. My location has higher rates than some regions and lower rates than other regions. Also, my rates are based on me as driver, so they will be higher than some people's rates and lower than other people's rates. Hope this was useful :ugh2:

UNKNOWN_370 05-08-2013 12:07 PM

I switched to progressive. Fvck all insurance companies. They're rapists. I pay $130 a month for my Z.

Bking 05-08-2013 12:18 PM

I envy you guys so much for the number of different insurance company you guys have...AND so much cheaper too.

Minsu 05-08-2013 12:28 PM

In a perfect world man.:bowrofl:

Minsu 05-08-2013 01:25 PM

i just need to get into the 2's and ill get the car before the end of next week. didnt think insurance would set me back this far. gotta pay to play i guess.

Z_Nismo 05-08-2013 01:29 PM

Hagerty - $100 month, but they would only insure the Nismo, since it's a "special edition". Also, you have to have another car as your daily...some caveats, but it worked best for my situation. By the way, I'm 39, no accidents, & in TX.

Extremely helpful in explaining why I pay more for insurance than some people, and less than others, and exactly the same as a few. Thank you so much!

Minsu 05-08-2013 07:57 PM

Do they have a big house, lots of valuables, and really fancy cars? If not then maybe they should consider shopping.....

Minsu 05-08-2013 08:28 PM

nope no type there. 11k. we have 2 benz a honda pilot, and a caddy? maybe another car. no idea there. and we rent.

b15 05-08-2013 08:32 PM

Thats crazy, especially for those cars.

enkei2k 05-08-2013 08:32 PM

With so many cars already, adding a Z will only tack on more insurance.

I'd suggest either drive one of those cars or get rid of some first before getting into a Z.

Have you checked out those websites I mentioned?

If you don't like the rates you're getting around you, the easiest solution to getting a better rate is to move to another state. Problem solved!

Or just try again when you hit 25, but who has the patience for that?
