Today went ok.....but not 100% great....
In NO way am I saying anything negative in this post about Altered Atmosphere or Stillen...I just want that made clear from the start. Simply stating facts from today. With that said....
But it wasnt horrible, either. Got to Altered Atmosphere around 8:30 AM and they took my car right in. Basically the sway bars are on the coilovers are on and the headers are on ! The wheels are tires look amazing. They were using them as display items at the front of the store, in fact! They already had the blue Volk & Rays stickers on them so thats cool. And the stems are blue, too! The locking lugs are flat black so again, thats cool! Only down side is....when they installed the headers it dropped the exhaust down about 2 to 3 inches. My exhaust is actually hanging lower than the oil pan at this moment! They said I could take the car home but when they push the exhaust back in place it causes a great deal of stress on it and I could possibly crack the manifold. So, the car is still at the shop tonight. Feels really strange knowing the car isnt in the driveway. I called Josh @ Stillen and I told him the two options Altered suggested and he wants me to call Altered tomorrow and have them send me pics of the exhaust and then send them to him (Josh). Josh is going to take the pics to whomever at Stillen can digest the problem and contact Altered Atmosphere. Josh is very confident all will be resolved tomorrow as is Jon at Altered Atmosphere. If I remember right Altered suggested shortening the HFC's as one option or installing an extra part on the exhaust that would be springy and would then take away the stress on the exhaust. Stillen wants me to call Altered tomorrow and tell them to not do anything until someone from Stillen talks with the tech who is installing my bolt ons. So close....yet so far away! The car is staying through Friday and I should be able to pick it up Saturday morning. Ugh...the next 24 to 48 hours are gonna stink without my car.

She will get fixed. But that unplanned stay at the shop, that is what is really bothersome.

I think it may already have an answer.....Semtex led me to this thread:
DIY: Stillen header installation And the photos and the issues he describes are 100% to a tee what the issue is I'm having. I'll be pointing Altered Atmosphere to the thread in the morning. (Thank you, Semtex! I owe you.....again!)

sucks, but it happens. One of the downsides to modding. Hang in there.

I'm looking forward to seeing pics of those Volks on the car, and I'd love to meet you at Capital Raceway to see what kind of numbers your car puts up with those mods.

I was going to go to that as well, but I drank a bit too much the night before. They have test and tune every Friday night. For 20 bucks you can make as many runs as time allows.

^^ Nice! Might have to work out something in the coming weeks. I was told I'll need to go back to Altered in a week or so after all the mod's are on to get another balancing. After that, I should be good to go!
