Oil Change In Less Time Higher Mileage?

Just wondering if anyone has had a recent oil change that said there next visit is less than the usual 7.5k. My usual oil changes are re-scheduled around 7,500 miles

Thumbs down Oil Change In Less Time Higher Mileage?

Just wondering if anyone has had a recent oil change that said there next visit is less than the usual 7.5k. My usual oil changes are re-scheduled around 7,500 miles after the oil change, the sticker now reads 5K miles until my next one. Is this b/c my car is getting higher in mileage? Im in a 09' w/37.5k.

lol no... that's just the dealership or shop you went to trying to get some extra $$$ from you

7500 miles is the recommended oil maintenance interval for normal driving. I do my own change around 5K typically (5 qts of Mobil 1 @ Walmart is $25). I've got a 2011 with 34.5K

ive been getting my oil changed at the dealership every 3,750 miles, but my dealer gave me every other oil change for free when i purchased.

since i don't put many miles on the car (just hit 14k) that means oil changes about every 6 months, and i only end up paying for one a year.

Hmm that's the way I do it .
I don't put many miles on mine either.
I've almost had it for a year and barely reaching 6k miles ( bought it used last May with 3.3k miles )

I change mine out every 3500 miles. With ESTER oil. I know its not really recommended to change it so early but just makes me feel safer.

That is dependent upon your driving conditions as stated in the OM. For me, it's 7500.

Agreed! I do my own changes, but because of all the stop and go traffic I encounter in my daily driver, I change it at around'ish every 5,000 miles. I've seen no difference in the oil to feel/touch and sight from 5k to 7k; but its pretty dirty for me in this car. Just my 2 cents. I've used Mobile 1 full synthetic (which is now getting really expensive) but I've seen what it does in the long wrong.

Case Study on two prior cars.
1) 2002 Jeep wrangler. Switched to Mobile 1 full synthetic after the 1st oil change. This was 4 wheeled often and served as a daily driver (120 miles round trip a day). At 80k miles, I crushed the oil pan during a weekend trip. When I went to install the new pan, we had full access to view the motor internals etc. It was so clean no one believed me that I had 80,000 miles on it. In fact, the oil pan was spotless on the inside...

2) 2008 Pontiac solstice- blew the motor due to factor defect. Had been using mobile 1 full synth.. stealership said the same thing about the engine when they took it apart to find the cause. They couldn't believe how clean it was.

New-2012 370z. Same driving conditions and still using Mobile 1 full synth.

I'm not promoting Mobile 1, but I am sharing my firsthand experience with a full synthetic oil. Take if for what it’s worth. I've done the same on the family hybrid with 160,000+ miles. So far, no problems and the engine runs great!

Btw, when I said 5qts for $25 at Walmart, I was referring to Mobil 1 5W-30. It's been that price for several years now. No one else even comes close; the Nissan Ester costs more than double that price (way overpriced IMO - I'd go to Redline or Royal Purple before I consider giving Nissan more money). But to each their own

Also, the main reason I went with Mobil 1 is because we originally bought the car as my wife's DD. If she needed to get an oil change while I'm out of town or something, I wanted her to be able to take it to local lube shop and not have to use a different oil.
