OP, vin will not tell you definitively. The dealer looked up my Maxima and said it was "an SV" (touring package) which it wasn't... Oh, and it wasn't "black" either... Lol!!! Brakes, wheels, SRM button, and the differential will be silver

Dealerships are stupid; case in point:
I saw an ad on autotrader put up by a dealership. This is what was listed: 2012 white base sport - 6MT - $32,000 Here's what I saw when I got there: 2010 RED base model - 7AT - $34,000!!!! WTF? same stock number, same vin number, correct dealership. I actually went outside to check the dealership name to make sure I was at the right place...

370Z VIN no Decoding!
That's the vin broken down. I agree with all the others, just look for the aesthetic differences. I don't think you can tell the difference based on the vin. GL OP
