I come back to this...
So even after parking a mile away from the store...**** still seems to happen. Might have been the wind, or some biatch punk was hating. Either way..its all good, at least it was the front bumper. The lower spoiler prevented it from hitting the paint, but upon inspection some paint is lightly scratched (scuffed) but I should be able to buff it out completely or to the point of it not being noticeable.

I was mad enough to get the cart, flip it over and toss it on its side in the parking lot. Could have been much worse, perhaps, a door or side panel...now that would have most likely caused some good damage , not to mention price to fix. |

I feel your pain
about a year ago i was at the local game stop in this shopping center that was in the target parking lot. when i went in it looked cloudy but no rain.. 5 mins later I come out and its windy as **** with black skys... out of the corner of my eye I see this older lady looking sort of dumbfounded at me walking to my car....and then i see it... the wind had blown her target cart out of her hands as she was returning it and it was speeding toward my GTR. I run to intervene but it was too late...it hit right where the clear side marker was like where the bumper and fender meet...hit so hard the back wheels of the cart came off the ground i **** you not.... by some miracle and maybe the clear bra or hit impacting exactly on the plastic side marker there wasnt any damage...but seriously it was a WTF moment. seriously a half empty lot and the target cart bin was like a hundred feet away in the parking lot.. the chances that it would come out of her hands and have the exact diagonal trajectory to line up perfectly with my car was just if it would have T boned the door it would have been epically bad Last edited by MC; 04-23-2013 at 01:57 AM. |

Hopefully this helps me pick an even better spot next time, maybe putting into account variables consisting of wind direction, and if the ground is perfectly leveled or not etc LOL . Yea also thankfully no cracks or anything, I will have to further inspect. But In the picture, at first I thought it was full contact with front bumper, but when I got closes they wheels are the front hit the bottom spoiler thing, which prevented the top of the cart to hit the paint with much force. |

My local Target is part of a mall. The mall parking lot wraps all the way around the mall. So what happens is people shop at Target, but then they push their cart elsewhere in the mall because they aren't parked by Target. So then they empty their goods into the car, but now they have nowhere to put the cart, because only the area in front of Target has the cart returns. I have seen some pretty horrible things due to this. One time I saw some guy just push his cart as hard as he could away from his car, and it ran into a white SUV at full speed and left a dent. I witnessed it and tried to chase after the guy but he peeled out as soon as he saw me. I managed to catch his plate number, so I wrote it on a note to the SUV owner. I'm hoping he was able to track that douche down.

Thank goodness your car didn't suffer much.
When my dad first bought his used '90 Z32-TT he took it to the grocery store to quickly grab something. When he walked back to his car someone scraped up the side with a shopping cart and left it there. There was another situation when he parked at the gas station to get coffee, he noticed some suspicious dudes staring at him. When he walked out he saw one of them throw a lit cigarette butt through the window and took off. Be careful of some places. People like to leave bottles and cans behind the wheel. Crazies...

Guh. Parking is such a gamble. A lot of times if I can snag a spot in the crowd I'll do it, if it's next to other nice cars. I figure the dude in a C class Benz doesn't wasn't his (or her) door dinged either. I feel like that camouflages you from arse wipes who would intentionally do something to your car.
That said, I hate my neighbors. My immediate neighbors are fine, but the there's a sizable white trash contingent in the other houses around us. The parents all let their little white trash goober kids run a-f***ing-mok unmonitored. I came out to my car on Sunday to go to my hockey game. RED CRAYON. All down the driver side door. I almost popped a hemorrhoid. Lucky for the little bastards it rubbed off fairly easily. That said, next time I see them, there's going to be an interrogation and some promises of broken arms...

I see people just leave carts in the middle of parking lots all the time with nothing preventing them from rolling off on their own for one reason or another.
People are inconsiderate. Too far to go to return it? How hard is it to hook the front wheels over a curb off to the side or something so it wont just roll away with a breeze or take up a whole parking space. Glad it was only a minor scuff. It'll probably buff right out.

I agree with all the posts, people are so inconsiderate of others property, but at the same time these haters want what you have but wouldn't take care of it if they had it. Just glad i can use our DD whenever i need to go somewhere around the city, and my wife reminds me never to park my 370Z (not that i would, we respect our possessions , and she appreciates the hard work i put into detailing our cars) unless i'm pumping gas into her (Vanity).
