All aftermarket headunits turn off when the cars not on. So this bypasses having the unit shut off.

Im sure it does the same thing on stock HU's & even the Nav packages

Haha oh! Well aren't you special :)

I shouldve read about the boot time of the unit i bought. I have had it for 5 years though! So its well worth waiting 30 seconds

You have to hit it five times fast for that

The emergency shutdown (ESD) only works when the car is in gear (and it may have to be moving, also). You can either tap the button a few times or hold the button in for a few secs.

When the car is parked, holding the button in shuts down the engine immediately (no pause).

Details are in the Owner's Manual and the FSM (see link in sig).

On that note, after im done with acc mode. Is there a way to shut off the car without have to put it in the on mode first. I think its a waste to prime the fuel pump if i dont intend to start the car.

Sh0velMan 04-13-2013 12:55 AM

If you hit the button 3 times fast, you can actually turn it off, cycle to acc and back to ON, and the engine will keep running...

No practical use for this and I found it out by accident while trying to turn the engine off to put a new ROM on.. lol I guess it was still turning a couple hundred RPM when it got back to ON so it fired back up.

I know in the manual it says if you need to kill the engine while driving its 3x fast or something like that

I swear I searched high and low on this site for something about this almost immediately after purchasing the Z two years ago. I would be interested in a link to a post or thread I might have missed concerning this.

rep to the OP finally :tiphat:

If you hit the button 7 times fast a genie comes out and grants you 3 wishes - but he can't grant you more wishes, true love, or Nissan TSBs.
