I worked with a young, former Marine and and one day I dropped a piece of candy on the floor..Remembering the Seinfield ten second rule i picked it up and ate it.. He was shocked! I told him that my distant uncle was a Marine who served in WW2 and remembers getting down and drinking out of a mud puddle..

I told him i could only conclude that Marines today are not as tough as they were in my day!!!

Just sayin....

Hey just curious (not trying to start and argument) why I military for the most part do not tip well at all. I live in Austin tx and bartend/serve at a place that has quite a few people from ft hood that come in. And its pretty widely accepted that you are screwed once you see a military I.d. or credit card.

No idea, and have never noticed this or tipped bad. I have always followed the double the tax rule, or gone higher if excellent sevice. I always tip $2 for a mix drink or $1 for a beer at the bar. Honeslty though, ater I spent 8 years in Japan, I had a hard time getting back into tipping again, as you do not tip in Japan for anything.....

For the most part we don't make a lot of money. People think that military people have lots of cash and that's far from the truth. I lived off of 1800 a month and barely made ends meet. Uniforms are freakin expensive, gas isn't any better, and in my case not a lot of people liked to live on the ship. Hope this helps.

Bad tippers (people) are everywhere. The uniform isn't a singularly distinctive marker. Not everyone who wears it deserves it.

AAF Changed to USAF in 1947.

(Unless you're talking AAC to AAF?)
