on a black Z... FRP or CF?

About to order side blades from aerojacket or evo R, and cannot for the life of me decide whether to go FRP ( i would NOT be painting) or carbon fiber.

Ive yet to see a balck Z with carbon fiber exterior accents in lighting that is not too photoshopped and close to reality of how it looks.

I know CF looks great on grey Z,s however not sure if it would look tacky on my black.

Besides pictures, person input much appreciated :tiphat:

I'm keeping mine black. My EVO-R lip is black, and when I get a spoiler (I soooo want the Mines spoiler) it will be painted as well. Same for the rocker panels (most likely the EVO-R side blades)

I don't think CF would look bad, it just has to be all or nothing (not the whole car, just lip, spoiler, rocker panel, rear valence, etc)

Agreed, I plan on going with the shine full lip kit in cf

I am mixing. Evo R carbon front fangs and rear diffuser, aerojacket carbon spoiler, Ings+1 rep lip in FRP matte black. I know the lip is going to scrape ocasionally so I would rather not wreck a carbon one lol. Plus the matte black will go well with the Forgestars I ordered.

I have a magnetic black Nismo and considered carbon fiber accents also. Throw out some good pics if you go for it! :pics:

CF, not even a debate.

I'm going with color matched FRP for mine. CF doesn't "pop" enough on black for my liking.

CF. It matches the black very well. Almost looks like it's painted the same color until you look at it a little harder. Nice and subtle.

Here's a good example of CF on black with one of the forum member's cars

I was concerned about the CF on Black as well, but i got a Seibon TS hood and it looks great. I also bought the SR FRP front lip and rear spats, and EVO-R blades which i will be color matching...being installed this week.

I'd post a pic of the hood, but its very hard to get contrast on the CF unless you have a good camera.

I like CF on black cars its kinda stealthy, u don't realize it right away, but when u get closer u r like sweet that's CF. I plan on getting a CF hood and some CF accents on my car. I have a few on the interior.

I had my CF Top Secret lip partially painted. Left the fangs and some of the lip CF and had the rest painted body color. It needed it since it was a used lip and scratched up pretty badly. I've also got a set of Evo-R CF door handles. A bit of CF here and there looks great on a black car.

Thanks for all the input gentlemen, CF it is :D

I'm the odd one out I guess. I think that looks bad against black. At first glance it looks like an unpainted flat black piece. But I agree it's so subtle that you don't realize it's CF until you get closer.

The picture does look strange, however I realize now that you cant properly picture CF against black without a ridiculously great camera.

I just saw some CF on black today on a different make, and damn does that look fresh. Especially when it comes to accents, not full body panels (like sideblades, instead of the whole side skirt) it stands out nicely.

:happydance:

Yeah, the gloss of the CF part sometimes doesn't translate well to photos. Usually, the gel coat is pretty glossy and reflects light well enough to be taken for a painted body part at first glance.
