Default Newbie question for the forum

Fellow Z enthusiasts....I'm new to the forum and I just picked up my first Z. '13 Touring w/sport 6sp. No Nav. I can already tell this car is gonna be a blast after the ride out of the dealer. After I parked it in the garage I started looking everything over and instantly removed the plastic engine cover. Can I assume there's no issues with this? Other than it being ugly, I would think it traps some heat as well.
I also have to bring it back to service because the CD player doesn't work. When I loaded it the first time, it played all 6 discs (Mix of home made and "factory" CD's) without any issues but when I selected random all disc it stopped reading the discs and wouldn't play anything. Not really a huge issue but I assume they'll replace the whole unit...Anyone have a similar issue?
As I continue to pour through this forum, I find it an EXCELLENT source of information and a bunch of good cats dishing out techniques and other great stuff. Future mod plans will be standard with intake, exhaust and tune. Looking to keep in quiet but quicken up the car a little. Previous mod experience was an '04 LS1 GTO with heads/cam/intake/full exhaust and all the other bolt on goodies. Made about 420 at the wheels. Based on reading some posts here, would I expect about 300 at the wheels with what I'm planning?

Question....How did you buy a Touring without Nav? That is impossible, unless either A) the dealership swapped out head units, B) you are confused about the differences between Touring, Sport and so on, or C) they sold you a base model listed as a Touring. Can you post some pics of either the window sticker or the car itself?

That aside..Welcome to the community!

To answer your questions:

1) Removing the plastic engine cover will not harm anything. However, your dealership may ask why it was removed later on being that the car is so new. I would not advise trashing it by any means.

2) With the full list of bolt-ons plus a tune, you will see north of the 300 rwhp mark easily. Just depends on how indepth you go, parts selection and tuner.

Yeah, you can buy a Touring w/o Nav. Nav. is a $2500 option, but it requires the Touring package.

Yeah, factory Nav costs an additional $2K on top of the $4.5K for the Touring package

As for the plastic undershroud, there are those that claim removing it will affect the aerodynamics of the vehicle. And there those that claim it protects the underside of the engine from bouncing debris. If those two things don't bother you, then do what you want

mr.jar

op it might be difficult to achieve "quiet" ride with those mods. intakes arent too bad, but as soon as you swap the muffler your Z will be quite lively.

Yeah, I was assuming that too. I guess what I'll be trying to achieve is keeping it "relatively" quiet.

Wow...did not know that. I assumed that the Touring Pkg automatically included the Nav. Has this always been the case with '09-'12 models? Or is this new for the '13?

I have a 2011 touring without the nav option, should have gotten a base sports with the additional cost
