Lols. Nah, good info. So I can haz the tint of the OEM, with LEDs of the EVOR and perceived brightness of the tail lights, by buying both and hacking away.

I think I'll just go OEM for cost, cuz I slightly favor tweak-able brightness over LEDs for the butthole of the Z. :)

To me, again, having a dim light where a bright light goes seems cheap. Maybe it's just me, but it appears that the attempt was made, but not met, to make the device look like a fog lamp. Then again, I've been driving all over, including much of EU in the past, and I expect to see more things that what's only inclusive to SoCal.
I would look at a Z with an actual fog lamp, and one with a dim fog light, and think to myself, "What's wrong with the Z with the dim fog"?
If I saw two Z's and one had a strobe-brake light effect and no constant-on illumination, and one with a standard fog, I would think to myself, "Wow! they really did something different with the fog light area".

So, I guess if you never leave SoCal, a dim fog lamp may be just the thing for you.

To answer your other question, my Z is mainly driven in the Southwest, Cali but also Arizona and Nevada.

Not sure why you'd assume that if my Z doesn't travel far that neither do I.

If I'm somewhere with more fog risk, like the East coast, it's usually for work. If I'm on another continent, it's been for fun.

I don't take my Z with me I fly and get a rental. Come to think of it, the aero planes I ride in have ultra super bright fog lights. You should get one of those for you Z :)

In any case, I can see you feel strongly for operating a fog light within regulatory guidelines. Or, if not you also approve of running it like a strobe light, or a set of rave lasers, whatever :)

Some peeps want to go subtle. Yep. You know that happens sometimes. No other reason other than they want to and they can. Lols.

I don't look at it as a fog light. I look at it as a rear driving light like the tails. The Japanese/Canadian OEM fog is wired to be a 7440 using 25 watts and that matches the brightness of the brake lights. Way too bright for just driving around in an area where we see fog maybe 1 day a year.

Nissan made the call we didn't need one at all, at least mine glows.

...and that's why you make your payment, and I make mine. If i saw a fog light that had a strobe-brake light effect i would think to myself "Wow, he's going to give someone a seizure" or since i'm older I might also wonder "Where's the disco?"

I bought my EVO-R light solely for the blinking feature. I've got it wired for "on" with the brakes, and "blink" for reverse.

It's strictly bling for me. Not too much fog in Houston to deal with.

Just giving you guys grief. If you like what you do with your car, that's all that matters.

Oy! It's a fog light. In America, you don't have it installed. Taking a bulb fixture out of a side marker doesn't mean it's no longer a side marker.

I didn't mean to get people riled up. I just wanted you to know it reminds me, and others, of people slapping 'TypeR' stickers on non-TypeR cars, or putting on fake vents. (it serves only to 'look' like what the real deal actually does)

If you swing through some MB, Audi, and BMW forums, you can find people complaining that their EU car has one brighter taillight when they turn on their fogs. They actually think it's a defect rather than a feature. :rofl2:
