Default New guy needs some help!

I am in the market to buy a 370Z. I need some help with trying to figure out if a Z car is a base model, has the sports package or the touring package. I am pretty sure that just because a Z has a rear spoiler that doesn't necessarily mean it has the sports package. Or just because it has the rims. What can I look for to let me find the difference quickly?

I have the VIN# for a car I am interested in buying. Are there codes in the VIN that will answer these questions? From what I have read, a Z car with the sports+touring packages is the best combo. Is that true? What else should I look for in a car?

Has anyone ever had leather installed in a used Z car? If so, approximately how much does that cost and is it worth doing?

Thanks for your help! I hope to be an owner soon.

If you want to know if the car has sports package check for spoiler, rims, tires , s mode if manual, and probably best way to find out is to look for the bigger Nissan sport brakes .
You could also look at the tire specs on the door of the driver side for tire specs ready 19" for tire Size .

Touring ...you get leather seats . And bose audio not hard to figure out if it has it or not.

In my opinion sports is a must, and it is worth it.

If you have the vin, give Nissan dealership a call. They will pull the info for you. Just any Nissan dealership will be able to tell you if it's a sport or touring.

A quick reference, sports package has Nissan sport brakes(bbk). Touring has leather seats and Nav(I believe?). Why haven't you checked the Nissan offical site?

Does the sports package come with power seats? Sorry for all of the questions, but the owner doesn't know what he has!?!?!

Power seats are the touring package. I just bought my first Z so I recently had to learn the same stuff. Easiest way to tell from pics are the sport package wheels (but don't trust that since they could easily have been swapped, look for S-Drive button near shifter). And for the touring package on the roof just in front of the rear hatch there is a little hump for the satellite antenna.

There are a great deal of mislisted 370zs in the online classifieds , believe me I have been hunting for the last couple weeks, so be careful.

Check the Nissausa.com website and go to build your own. You'll see pics of the models that will show you the differences the Sport option gives you. Click the link in there to compare all models, and you get a nice PDF that has all the info.

The key visual differences with sport:
small spoiler in the back
more stylish wheels (often look like a stylized Z in the spokes)

The differences between Base and Touring are all interior, so you gotta step in to tell.

Key differences:
aluminum pedals
bluetooth logo
power heated seats (lumbar support)
bose system

Mr. Nismo-Yes, this will be my first Z. I have not seen the car that I have interest in person, but the owner said it does have the S-Drive button. It does have the spoiler and sports wheels. But someone could easily buy a base and add those two later. It doesn't have leather so it's not a touring.

Should I wait for a sports+touring? The car I am looking at seems to be a pretty good deal. It's a 2010 with 23k miles, 6spd., Silver, and immaculate for $24,500. Let me know your thoughts.

S-Drive button? I assume you meant SynchroRev Match button. If that's the case, it's a sports package. The SynchroRev Match is not the thing can be easily added. Plus you sound like the owner has no idea about his own car, so no way he added a SynchroRev match feature himself. It's a sports for sure.

$24,500 on a 2010 with 23k is a pretty good deal imo.

To be honest, if you're on this forum, you definitely want the Sports package.

Touring is completely up to you, as it's only interior upgrades. Granted, they're nice upgrades, but only you can decide if it's worth the extra few $k. (New, it's about a $4k difference.)

I think the biggest questions usually are:
- Are you going to replace the seats? If so, Touring seats are a waste on you.
- Are you going to replace the audio? If so, Touring Bose is a waste on you.
- Are you going to care about leather vs cloth interior? If you don't care, Touring leather is a waste on you.

That's roughly it. If you want those things and don't plan on upgrading them on your own dime/time, Touring may be worth holding out for.

My theory depends on what are you planning to do. If you plan on converting it to a track car IE stripped the interior, remove all non necessary items and so on then the sport/track model will do. The syncro rev is nice. If you plan to do shows and stuff, and somethings or most of them will be replaced then any model will do. If you want the vehicle to look good and not having to do any replacements then the nismo is the model. That's why I was asking.
