Most of us just wanted something more. How can you blame us after 2 tests showing the 370 Nismo Z isnt any faster than the regular Z and Nissan didnt give it an oil cooler at that. Will wait for further testing to be fair but so far it doesnt look like money well spent from a performance to dollar standpoint. Thats basically the ax I have to grind with Nissan. The car deserved to be more than it is imho. This isnt a knock at anyone that has purchased one at all. Congrats. Im just voicing my opinion NOT hate.

I don't hate the Nismo, I just agree with most of the posters here that the additional money doesn't justify what you get...... our opinion, not meant to dis anybody that buys the car. I actually like the wheels and front bumper, don't care for the rear spoiler..... but styling is very subjective. It was mentioned about the "sum of the parts working together in harmony", to create the level of performance the Nismo attains. This is certainly true, however, most of the members here are seasoned car enthusiasts, and IMO, are pretty capable of picking aftermarket suspension parts along with HFC, exhaust, intakes, etc, that will work together very well. There are some impressive "tuners' on this site that I learn a lot from. I am sure the Nismo fills a niche however for those that don't do much aftermarket work, nor care to come to a great place like this to learn. John |

Given that I'm the OP, I might as well add that I'm far from jealous of a Nismo 370Z in its current form. Just today I found myself day dreaming again of a better Nismo sporting 400hp and quad exhausts like a porsche turbo (how cool would that look?). Something you look at and think "Hot damn that's sweet." To me, the current Nismo looks nothing more than a base 370Z that a teenager got his hands on and bought some mods from Pep Boy's.

My disappointment comes clearly from the lack of available options, simply put you can't sell a 30k base car fully loaded with options to include the nismo goodies for 50k - thanks for cool dealers to sell 50k msrp for 43k... Now I'm happy...

Yeah I agree Nismo is a shocker. Nismo looks bad, cheesy and it is not much of an upgrade at all. The standard Z looks much better. Nismo needs to look good and give a substantial upgrade.

Yeah, definitely no "hate" towards the Nismo from me either. Its just that I would've modified the Nismo's everything, just like I did with my touring and I would've ended up with the same car I have now...except some body parts and my navigation. So I don't really care whether it exists or not.

[QUOTE=SnakeBitten;118778]AGREED. Somethings I would have loved to see in this Nismo Z.
1. FACTORY INSTALLED OIL COOLERS for a track focused car is a serious nobrainer. [bruno] Nissan.....Wass Up?[/bruno] 2. Direct Injection and at least 50 more hp[aftermarket is getting close to that with just i/e/h & tune. A cam to exploit an 8000-8200 redline would be nice but not necessary. 3. Its own gearset to maximize all 6 gears [who cares about 1-2mpg loss on a track focused car] 4. Lightweight Racing seats to offset some of the weight added by the seam welds. 5. A more aesthetically pleasing lightweight bodykit that added "significant" downforce. 40-45k for this I believe people would easily pay. I mean they are paying that for the 370z Nismo as it stands and getting way less than the above. The Nismo Z is just the track version....that's the diff. |
