But... it might mean more sales of Z's, and in turn that only improves the chances of even better (and more affordable) future Z's (and maybe less lame future 86 cars too).

I'm all for this -- it's a swift kick in the plums to the competition.
First, the is based on the current price you can buy new. If the new prices drops 30% so does the resale baseline.

Second, you want more Z's on the road? Aka mustang style? I see some benefits like aftermarket parts, but still.

I don't mean it like that...i just mean for anyone that purchased new in the past...compared to anyone that purchases new now going forward..

Also, if "NEW" prices drop, then used prices will as well. You can't expect to sell a used car for the same price as a new...

I believe in Europe the Z is not as popular as here in the US.
1. It's overpriced compared to here.
2. Gas is more expensive.
3. Probably taxes based on engine size and power.
This sounds like a marketing move only for Europe.

i seriously doubt they will target the european market, japanese cars are not as popular there compare to lets say asia or the U.S.

If they are really gonna do a price drop it will definitely be a global thing, i dont see why they will only do it for the european market to be honest.

IMHO, it is more likely to be the U.S market cause the import fees are not as ridiculous as other countries, we will still be the biggest market outside of japan

Car sales in Europe are very depressed which probably explains the price reduction.

+1.... Europe has also cut off the WRX and STi from the European market due to bad sales.

If the price drop happens in the US as well it will hurt the resale value for prior years where we paid thousands more for the vehicle. But nothing we can do about it except post a comment of our displeasure and shake our fist at Nissan Corporate.

I HIGHLY doubt it will happen here, although it really should...
If it DOES happen here...

Over priced in Europe to begin with plus, they have to reduce inventory.

I doubt it is but if this is the case in the US hooray. You never no the yen < dollar exchange rate has dropped a ton this past 12 months or so. And Japan is doing it for this very reason to help exports.
