remote starter $1000!!!!!????? - MyG37
1101T - Universal Proximity Key Bypass Here's what they say. Hope this helps: Patrick, The basic remote starter that we use in a product of Directed electronics, also we use a Can-Bus module that learns the rolling code of the intelligent key and integrates with the electronics of the G37, finally we make a modification so the remote starter works with the existing factory remote. The system is engaged by hitting the lock button twice, once you get in the car with the intelligent key you step on the brake and the vehicle acknowledges that the key is now in the car and it switches over and u drive away. I hope this answers your questions. Brian Cullinan Parts and Service Director Fields Infiniti (847)998-5200 F847)835-0843 some info i found

Here is a question about our key fobs. I can start my car and walk away, the car stays running. Is there a time or distance limit on this? Obviously if the car was shut off somewhere it would require the key to restart, but honestly for me that is to late.

Remote start alarms (or stand-alones) have timers that are programmable to dictate how long they will run. Most people will set them to 10-15mins.
Pressing the foot brake or any other failsafe you wire in would kill the car without inserting your key (or getting in the car with your fob in this case.) I'd recommend wiring in a parking brake requirement and a clutch shutdown on 6MTs. No reputable shop should install a remote start on a customer's car, unless things have changed with the fact that you can now accurately monitor which gear the car is or isn't in. I've seen installs in the past using a grounding system of springs where when they make contact with the shifter it disables the remote start. I did a side job for someone many years ago on a manual transmission and all was well for about a year. The kid dropped his car off at a dealer for a recall on his dash (it was a ford where the dash was peeling up from its frame) and he attempted to start the car. It jumped into the side of the building as the tech had left it in gear, good times. I love the fact that your guy at Infiniti stated that the remote start works with the factory keyfob, I'd be interested to see how that works. I'm assuming the factory alarm module has some unused outputs. Take for instance that most Infinitis and higher end Nissans have been able to roll down their windows by holding the "Unlock" button on their fobs for a while.

No once the car gets the signal it needs to turn on it will not shut off until the user turns the car off.

I'm awaiting a quote for the Clifford Matrix with the CAN Module, hopefully I'll hear back by tomorrow. Once I'm ready to do this I'll create an extensive DIY. I've never really documented my work, only before and after pictures, so it'll be fun.

Using auxiliary relays on the remote start system you can even trigger a defroster or seat warmer. Many years ago I had my alarm set up where I could start the car, vent the windows and sunroof (independently), and had a relay bypass the accessory power input to the stereo so it wouldn't blast if I had left it up to high. Although I could switch it back on with just the push of a button. The alarm was also set up to close my windows and sunroof upon arming, unless I hit a bypass button beforehand. It's just a fun luxury that is actually useful at times, especially in the Texas heat.

I don't know about the Z, but in Toyota smart keys, there is an option to turn off the smart key feature, where you will have to use your clicker to unlock and lock the door instead of pressing the button on your door handle...I"m sure there's one for the Z too...so I guess if you want to shut off that feature of your car, then you can definitely install remote start for your car...
