Not ALL performance tires, but yes, the stock Bridgestones do. Something like the Dunlop Direzzas are symmetrical and can be swapped left-right. But you have to actually change the tire and not just rotate the wheels since they're still directional.

You did say the dealer not only did the steering lock but a Nav upgrade, right? Maybe the 4 miles was to make sure the Nav was working properly after the upgrade..? Just a thought.

Speaking from someone who went nuts because the car jockey at the dealership I used to go to needed to adjust my driver seat, I have to say that if I saw that the my Z was driven 4 miles, I would be pissed. The fact that they could not give you a good answer when you asked them about it makes me even more suspicious. I'm trying to think why they needed to do an update on the Nav in the first place but I guess that's another issue. The Z would be a tempting car for some tech to want to take it for a "test drive" to the local Dunkin Donuts. I'm sure it happens more times than not and if I had a piece of crap car, I wouldn't care. But not my Z. I would send the Service Mgr an email or call them to let that know that you have a concern over this and let them explain to your satisfaction why they needed to drive the car for 4 miles. By the way, since my issue with a dealership regarding my seat issue, I have not returned there and have found another Nissan Dealership that I trust. I am paying them, they need to gain my trust so that I return. If that doesn't happen, there are plenty of other reputable shops and Dealerships around that would love to have my money.

I'd be pretty cheesed.
Every time I drop my car off for a service, no matter where it is, I take a picture of the odometer, gas gauge, and mpg meter. So far I've had no issues, but if I ever do I'll have proof. The Nav test is feasible, but I doubt it. Did they tell you what it entailed? I would think it would just be a map update, and I don't think they'd be able to confirm its validity in four miles (given that most car dealerships I've seen aren't located in new housing developments or along reconstructed highways).

My car was in for an engine swap. I got it back with 30 miles more on it. Who cares. The car was fine. Take receipt of the vehicle and enjoy it. |
