For me the Z's in the past were nice but just interesting, but the moment I laid eyes on the 370Z it was love at first sight.
I love every single thing about the car (except the SWL and CSC) but I'll take those as part of the package, no car is perfect. Besides, it's not like those are impossible to fix anyway, it's just parts changing , not like designing a car just changing failed parts. I like changing parts, but haha only on my own terms, not on the side of the road! Overall I've had my car about a month now and it's fabulous. I like the size, the stance, the appearance, the cabin, the stereo, the drivers seat is very good, handling is superb, ahhh, I just love it. My wife is worried about me and this car, but I think that's the sweet spot! Last edited by Fountainhead; 03-22-2013 at 11:36 AM. |

You only regret something if it's not what you wanted in the first place. I don't regret buying a Z at all. I would have regreted buying a more practical car, like a sedan, if I listened to what others told me.

Interesting juxtaposition of opinions there. There's certainly a lot of variance in terms of what is built by different companies. I think a lot of the impressions many people have regarding cars have more to do with the fact that Japaneses manufacturing was 15 years ahead of the rest of the world throughout the late 80s and early 90s, coupled with the fact that the US was quite a few years behind. It extends beyond cars and continues to pretty much everything--be it electronics or whatever else. It's less of an inherent quality and more of a fluctuating quantity than most people realize. A less favorable yen and domestic manufacturers ramping things up has certainly changed the landscape from, say, 99. Japanese manufacturing techniques have been studied, copied, and improved worldwide. Everybody runs a lean, JIT manufacturing operations and undergoes DFM and DFSS studies on designs before production. It's crazy to believe that the Honda of today is the same company as the one that was pushing a smoking s2000 years ahead of it's time...just as it's hard to believe that Ford survived pushing their new edge mustang back then. It's a shame that Nissan is really the only Japanese company pushing anything worthwhile these days, but market conditions dictate most decisions. My old Hondas were comparative works of art against other cars of their time, but there's definitely been a shift. Back then, you'd have to be a raving nut to choose a Ford Focus over the Civic...today, you'd probably have to be nuts to choose the Civic over the focus. It takes a long time for public perception to shift, just as it did from 82-85. It takes years to build a reputation, and then the bean-counters decide to run it into the ground to maximize profits for a few years, and you get to start all over. |

I just have very strong opinions when it comes to import versus domestic market. I have many reasons and can back them up. Be glad to talk to you more about that someday maybe On the phone or elsewhere. I'd hate to type my long addressed opinions here.

I've been a far bigger fan of German and Japanese cars than American for most of my life, and probably will continue to be, but it doesn't mean I can't recognize a well-done car when I see one. It also doesn't mean I won't call out Honda/BMW/Nissan when they put out something crappy. No country or manufacturer is infallible, and it doesn't take much to see that things are always changing on the vehicle market. |

My only regret about the Z is that I can't put my baby's car seat on the passenger side. It just doesn't look right..or safe. In the past 9 mos. I've only driven 4700 miles in the Z.

Everyone and their mom was telling me not to get a Z. That I should get something more practical. That it's too much money. Now I have the Z and people are always fighting for shotgun

I love my Z and have no regrets buying it. But, I am car bi-polar and already can't wait for the next car. I've had my Z for a year and a half now and thats already more time than the last 5 vehices i've owned. I don't blame the Z for it more than I blame myself.
Of course, If I can throw two turbo's on it after my wedding, I'm sure my concentraction will shift back to the Z. |

And I understand what you mean Cmike2780, BUT I didn't regret it when I bought it, and there aren't many reasons to need TWO ISF's, LOL! I regret it now because of ALLLLLLL the problems I have and the shitty dealershits and NNA being LAZY... My car has TURNED OFF while driving TWICE... TURNED OFF, had gas both times... I called corporate stating that this is a HUGE safety issue and I shouldn't be driving my car around... They said well, if you feel it's unsafe don't drive it... Noooooo... This is my car that I PAID FOR... I need it to drive around, I didn't buy my car to look at or drive only on the weekends... No local dealers have open appointments and the 2 dealers they told me to go to have been booked for a solid week... When I asked about getting a rental anyways the response I got was, Nissan only pays for 5 days of a rental except if it's special circumstances... Somehow car turning off on a road where cars are going 60MPH and my car not starting isn't a good enough reason... I just realized NNA was supposed to call me yesterday to follow up... They haven't
