How to identify Touring package?
Hey guys, considering buying a 370Z. When I'm looking on autotrader and the like, how do I identify a touring model? I thought I was looking for leather/power seats but all of the ones that I see listed as Touring have cloth and manual seats. Since I probably have to drive a couple hours to find what I want I would like to be sure before I go.
Thanks for your help! |
Touring is electric, otherwise those listed is bogus

maybe try 'build your own' at the nissan usa site?

this reminds me of one guy here that bought a 'sport' with base brakes... :ugh2:

Lol... That makes me want to laugh again. He believed the sales guy it was a sports and got shafted when he saw others with the bigger nicer brakes. Then he made a thread asking to buy aknbonos |
Looking at the head unit of the stereo is the easiest to tell for me personally.
This is the base stereo: http://buyersguide.caranddriver.com/...st0320_057.jpg This is touring: http://www.the370z.com/members/spart...7-step-11a.jpg |
I think I see my confusion now. I assumed power seats would be 100% powered, but I guess the controls are on the inner side of the seat and they all still have palm knobs on the outer side.
Touring also included the homelink transmitter, correct? How can one identify the Bose system from the base system? Thanks again. I'm a corvette guy who knows every last detail but just started considering a Z and have a bit to learn. |

And side note, is that head unit easily upgrade able to aftermarket?

The easiest way to tell base v touring:
On the exterior, look for the bump on the roof near the rear glass. This is the antenna for sat radio & such that only comes in the touring. |

NISMO? I think not. AND FWD (front wheel drive). Or is it Four Wheel Drive: 2008 Nissan 350Z NISMO Coupe :shakes head: . . . |

The bose is a pain because of a different wiring setup & not as plug-n-play friendly. With the bose if you are doing a huge overhaul, headunit/wiring/speakers/amp/etc then it is much easier because most parts are being replaced. |
Well bummer, all of the sport tourings that match my criteria are not in fact Touring models.
How about this one? Only a sport but that's probably sufficient to me as its more important than Touring. 2010 Nissan 370Z, $24,991 - Cars.com Seem like a good deal? Kind of a lot of miles. |
Non-tourings have blank buttons for seat heaters? Can't really tell whats there in the pics.

Misfortunes or stupidity? If you are dropping 30 stacks on a car try doing full research or you deserve to get shafted. I'm sorry I don't feel for idiots on this planet. |
IMO, the Bose isn't that bad to work with. You'll need an adapter or two, but it's completely workable. There's a ton of information in the audio/video section about it.
Base is definitely easier and Nav is definitely near-impossible. |
Don't settle for just the sport package if you want the touring package too, just keep looking
If you're paying 20k+ for something you might as well get what you want |

As it is I will have to go to LA to find something. But you're right, I'll probably keep looking. |
Look for the antenna
|
You should really look at the for sale Section of this site for purchasing a used Z. Most that frequent this site take VERY good care of their cars and the car might come with some decent entry level mods that you can finance into the cost. And speaking of financing, people have a misconception that you cannot finance a private party car but you can and quite easily if the car is younger than 5 years. Most times you can get pre-qualified for a purchase amount and private party shop all day.
Help a fellow 370z'er out and buy private. You'll most likely save a few thousand and stick it to the idiot sales guy that advertises a Z as front wheel drive. just sayin... |
Good point, I'll take a gander!

Saw that car, thanks. Looking for something pretty much stock. And I've never driven one (there are no cars in Vegas to try) so I need to do that before I make a trip. Again, Vegas sucks for cars :(

Some key indicators I used to tell if it was touring: -Heated seat switches. If they are blank it's not a Touring -Bose Stereo. the HU looks a little different from the base and the doors will have "Bose" on them. -The SAT antenna on the roof -The inner power switches on the drivers AND Passenger seats. |
Yeah, I'm not wild about the cosmetic changes.
|
Okay, last question, promise.
For California cars with the front license plate bracket, are they all drilled right through the bumper or did Nissan do something tricky to leave the bumper intact? |

It's drilled at preset holes |
Ugh, so frustrating. Thanks!
