I would never ever consider parking a manual in neutral with just the handbrake on. The handbrake is a very small item holding a lot of lbs. That was one of the first things taught to me when I learned to drive. I was taught to first put the car in neutral, pull the handbrake, then put the car in 1st or reverse depending on uphill or down, then turn the car off. That way the car is not resting on the transmission, but being in gear is a back up if the handbrake failed or wasn't fully engaged.

I used to park just e-brake in my mustang, till it rolled down my parents driveway into the street...:ugh2:
