So now that this thread calmed down. It looks like the perfect Z would have a:
3.0 turbo engine with about 370hp weighing about 3,000-3,100lbs With an optional: 3.8 twin-turbo with approximately 480hp weigh about 3,300-3,400lbs Judging by the low amount of people interested in a continuing 3.7 or a 4 cylinder turbo variant for a Z. I conclude that the best thing that can happen is that Nissan make a Silvia type car with a 4 banger turbo that can get close to replicating current Z on paper performance starting at $26,000 and at $38,000 they can build a Z that will build and improve on the current Z on paper performance. I think the best bet is the Silvia goes FWD/AWD option and weighs in at 2500lbs. The Juke is an astonishing 2800lbs for it's size, drivetrain and room. I think a Silvia type car can achieve 2500lbs and 250 turbocharged horses would make it a hoot to drive. The Fr-S competitor can be the AWD model... But if Nissan steps up with some new high tech craziness we weren't expecting? Awesome. Remember july 2008. We saw a Z concept/preproduction car that looked identical to a 350z but with a deeper sloping rear and new front en d that looked weird. That craziness of a next gen Z turned out to be the 370z. A thread like this with a poll is made so when Nissan corp is doing market research and they are thread researching. They can see what are popular and unpopular ideas for the Z. Pipe dream or not. Someone in japan may be looking at this pole and saying, "We might be going in the wrong direction???" When you don't vote on stuff and think negative? You don't help change. The point of this thread is to get the genpop to vote on what they would like to see in a Z. Not to wallow on what won't happen. Cheer up dude, There's a time and place for everything. |

Can't wait to hear more about this. This will most likely land me back in a Z...unless I can afford a Cayman S by that time.

I think the 4 cylinder Turbo. A member mentioned price as the Z34 isnt selling all that well. The Z has always been the poor mans Porsche (except for the Z32-see where that went?). Ill take 2750lb version with 275HP. Its everything the gutless POS BRZ should have been.

Nissan is in a hard spot for sure. The Z is getting squeezed from below and above. Frankly, I'd like to see them release a 4 cylinder under a different badge. 4 cyliinder turbo sub $35,000...V6 turbo Z with 550+hp and weight reduction at $50,000...and the GT-R. I'd rather the Z diverged from its 'affordable' roots than its V6.

Just a thought. Didn't Andy Palmer say that all the Nismo versions would have a 15% power increase over the base models?
So if we take that logic into account, if we assume that the base version gets a small bump to 350, the Nismo version should be about 400hp. Then there's also the rumor of a Nismo RS. To me that could be the one at around 475hp. Depending on price, I'd really love to go Nismo RS (depending on looks, price, and performance of course) otherwise just the regular Nismo again. That's if I decide to sell my current one. With all the money I have in this car now. The new Z would have to be a real performer (i.e. Nismo RS at 450+) to get me to trade in.
