The whole point of driver enjoyment is the ultimate excuse for having a slower car

I am on the MT side of things, I would only down grade to a Z if it was because I wanted a MT. Otherwise I would stay in the GTR

Let me get this straight... you want to go from GT-R (auto) to a 7AT Z?
Jokes apart - Z IS MANUAL - (ok guys driving AT, shoot me now )

I'll probably get bashed for this but if I had a GTR I'd sell it.

So yes I would never buy one.

If I had a GT-R and wanted to change car, I probably would consider the Corvette C7 first.
Primarily for two reasons, 1/ It's more powerful than the 370z and 2/ it just came out.

Wow, a simple question generated 4 pages of responses. I'm impressed.

Just want to say 'Thank You' to all of you who contributed.

...so far, we have people recommending:

1. Don't get the Z, stay with GT-R
2. Don't get the Z, get a corvette instead.
3. Don't get the Z, get a moostang instead.
4. Get the Z, but in 6MT since it's a sports car.
5. Get the Z in 7AT but put a SC on it.
6. Get the Z in 7AT but put a TT on it.

Despite all these variances, one thing is for sure.

For sure, in stock form, Z is not going to make me happy. So FI is the only way to go if I want to pursuit this. But would an aftermarket FI kit take away the reliability of an otherwise bulletproof car/engine?? Will increased torque gain from the FI kit make traction unmanageable??

These are the type of questions I would need to investigate further.

But for now, Thank You, to everyone for his/her enthusiastic replies.

Hey OP, if finance isn't a big deal, you want new and different experience, want auto box, what made you pick a 370z over a used 911 or M3?
No M3 or 911Turbo.....been there and done those already.

BTW, GT-R takes the cake over any 911Turbo in my book or any other Porsche.........well, maybe not a Carrera GT.

Besides, 370Z looks 100X better than the current offerings from either M or Stuttgart. Only if 370Z have the powertrain and running gears of the GT-R then we would all have the cake and eat it, too.

I have both. 2012 370Z AT Touring/Sport/Nav - 2013 GTR

If you used your GTR as a daily driver, you know the transmission can be clunky (understatement I know) at slow speeds. The AT Z is much smoother as slower speeds. Definitely wont be impressed with the the Zs take off power, but on open freeways, it still moves and can dart through traffic. It feels much smaller on the roads, the GTR feels long. The visibility on the Z is terrible. This is my biggest gripe, I had to get used to this. The driver side mirror and front roof pillar pretty much block all view on left hand turns. I need to peek up and over the side view mirror to make sure I'm not going to smack the center divider. If you used your GTRs trunk, forget about it on the Z. I can put my backpack in there and lay down down a bag or two groceries. GTR I get about 15-16mpg, Z I get 18mpg. Z maintenance is cheaper than the GTR.

And for some reason, Nissan decided to make the toggle switch on the steering wheel on the Z control the song selection (during BT audio, fwd and back), and small buttons for volume. On the GTR is the other way. The toggle switch is the volume and the buttons are for fwd and back on songs.

Overall, the GTR is awesome, the Z is great, if I had to chose, I would pick the GTR. However, I drive the Z more than I do the GTR. Go figure.
