I did a short test drive tonight. The airbag was OFF the entire time. It didn't go off accelerating, braking or turning. There is more than enough space between the dash and the rear facing car seat. The seatbelt held tight and there is a lock on it to lock it in its place. Of course this was done with an infant seat, I have to see how it will do with the convertible seat as I think they are longer and taller.

I should also mention the steep pitch on the seat will require some leveling to get the seat to work properly. The infant seat sits properly on the flat part of the passenger seat.

As I said, this is not recommended, but it seems to work okay in a pinch.

Rear facing child seat
I know the car comes with a tether for forward facing child seat along with the airbag being disable. Anyone know if it would be possible to install rear facing child seat (assuming the thing actually fits). I seem to recall someone said Nissan didn't allow it for some reason.

Does it fit? Yes, is it recommendable, HELL NO

That brings me back to the original purpose of this thread. Outside of Nissan's recommendation, are there any SCIENTIFIC reason as to why? I assume Nissan did it for legal reasons
