My garage is fairly tiny and I already have a full tool box setup in there and a ZX636. I backed out this morning while trying to figure something out and hit my garage door.

Someone please feel sorry for me. Lol

Anyone know a cheap OEM site for Nissan?

DEpointfive0 03-02-2013 08:11 AM

I am 25. I have owned 7 cars, and 5 bikes. I have NEVER ONCE damaged a car of my own doing. (I have damaged a bike though once, by dropping it.) :icon14:

This sucks lol, but I should have it replaced shortly.

My sympathy. You could try a one of part outs on this forum. Good luck!

 could have been way worse.

Is it the entire mirror or just the glass?! We replaced just the glass on my honda and it was like 25 bucks....check amazon if it is just the glass.

Wellll, the glass and the black surround is broken

Btw, OP, how fast were you going? Because the mirrors flex back

It's the mirror, and the black piece on the bottom of the mirror. The blue colored part is fine from what I can tell. :ugh2:

I was going less then 1 mile an hour, just drifting back. The mirror did flex back, but mid flex, it locked, and I heard the pop. I looked over, and then it flexed the rest of the way.

Bummer. As another Arkansan once said, "I feel your pain."

Being as those are breakaways, you had to hit it just right to do that. What great luck you have, eh? :(

In the future, you may want to pull the mirror housing into the "broken away" position before pulling into the garage. YMMV.

That's what I plan on doing from now on, just getting out, and folding the mirror in from now on. I've had this house for over 4 years now, never once hit it. On the first day of my new Z ownership, I hit the mirror perfectly to destroy it.

Livin the dream..............Living. The. Dream. :icon23:

First day of ownership makes it worse... Sorry

You don't even have to get out - just roll the window down and give the mirror housing a good tug. It doesn't take a lot of pressure to breakaway (makes me wonder why they don't fold up at high speed).

Good point they do fold in pretty easy...... My old Z32 had power mirrors which was cool push of a button and mirrors fold in, I miss that for tight spots like garages. It is like a lot of other luxury cars they still have that but not everyone uses it. I am surprised they didn't keep that option around for the Z. But it could also be because it was a JDM Z32 and I know there cars can have different options.........like that stupid speed warning chime to tell you your speeding over 100 or 120 km/h so dumb, got rid of that ASAP!
