Ah okay, I suppose since I only rent them for short periods of time it would be hard to notice. Good to know!

Using CR for car advice is like using the Best Buy sales dude for your upcoming brain surgery.

Consumer Reports, Consumer's Digest, etc. have their place. They're great for people looking to get the best value for their budget dollar. If I was looking for a mid-range commuter sedan (like an Altima, Fusion, Accord, etc) I'd at least take some of their findings into consideration.

But for people who are looking for cars like ours, the usual CR criteria don't really carry the same weight. I know I wasn't really considering cargo space or all-season capability when buying my Z. It's all about perspective.

We're also car enthusiasts. Of course we're going to disagree with any "expert review." DON'T TELL ME MY Z IS UNRELIABLE. IT ONLY LEFT ME STRANDED TWICE IN 6 MONTHS. THAT'S NOT THAT MUCH...

Interesting....but a completely pointless comparison. It's just another useless article brought to you by people that should stick to reviewing microwaves.

The Versa Sedan is currently the cheapest new car you can buy in the US market. I was looking at getting the sedan as a DD and I can honestly say the ameneties reflect the price. Nothing is standard equipment on the cheapest model. A tach is optional for god's sake. There's no reason to really buy this car new. To be fair though, Nissan designed this for people who want a brand new car and just need something that get's you from A to B with the least impact on your wallet. I ended up leasing a Civic.

The upcoming Versa Note actually looks pretty good. Reminds me of the Honda Fit, which would have been my first choice if buying instead of leasing.

Most car magazines change their opinions on what they hear, its common but if some of them actually did some real research and had credible sources they wouldnt have all these assumptions/generalizations to go on. But then again I just read the magazines

Yeah... my z is one of the most reliable cars I've ever owned. For the performance and what i pay in maintenance... Awesome. Thus far, I've yet to own an unreliable Nissan. Knock on wood.

I gave up a long time ago. If I want reliability, I'd be in a Honda Accord but will be miserable. A good alternative is a hard to find un-modified S2000 or a plain Miata.

My 2006 350Z has never had a non-wear problem. Brakes, tires, and oil are about the only things I've spent money on. I've never had another car that went almost 7 years w/o any problem. You'd almost thing it was made in 2004 1/2!

We own the best Nissan and the worst Acura. Other than going from 332 HP to 151 HP, the ILX is a solid car. But honestly, I cannot complain about a brand new Acura for >$25K and $250 monthly car payments (it helps that I don't have to drive it often )

Well good for you.

Ha. Just kidding. I had the clutch cylinder fail on me when I was four hours from home (not my fault). I also had the SLU fail on me outside of a frickin' KFC. (I say this is 50/50 my fault. 50% Nissan's fault for a crap unit, 50% mine for knowing about it and uh, doing nothing.) So, all regular '09 problems. Nothing out of the ordinary though. Other than that it's been reliable.
