Car and Driver's Cars Worth Waiting For: 2016 Z

I don't think the rendering shown really has anything to do with it. The main gist of the article, is same (similar) underpinnings, new different body.

i guess im the only one that sees alot of the original 240Z body lines in the concept sketch that they have there...whereas the current Z has a few cues to the original 240Z this concept sketch has alot more of the actual body lines of the 240Z. long front hood, short but sloping rear deck and the roof line even looks more like a 240Z then the current Z does even though the current Z is quite the looker in its own right.

Doesn't need much else to remain a world class Sports & GT.
NISMO engine = same engine as other Z's. no difference at all except exhaust and tune.

Pick if you want to drop weight or make it quiet because soundproofing is heavy.

Since I'm not an engine guy, I'll just critique on the concept design.

I would think that they should go in the similar route Lamborghini did with their Aventador. The previous Lambo had curves, but the Aventador has a sharp hi-tech look to it.

The next Nissan 370 design should be a more hi-tech version of the 300Z. I'm just really diggin the Aventador design and want an affordable version, .

Anyone else concerned we have to wait until 2016 (mid-late 2015) for the next Z? The Z is already falling behind and by then the Z will be ancient with 332hp. I mean the next gent mustang and Camaro aren't too far off. I just don't see what Nissan could do for the 2014 and 2015 models to try to bring in new buyers. The 2013 re-fresh didn't exactly win over a lot of people, especially with no power increase.

I'm afraid unless Nissan gives us a concept sooner rather than later I'll probably jump ship for the first time in a long time to the new Vette. This coming from a 280z, 300zx, and 2 time 370z owner. I've owned Z's since I was 17 and plan to keep my 280z and 300zx forever; and as much as I love my 370z I'm chomping at the bit for something newer and more powerful. 2016 is a long time away

I hope Toyota, Honda, and Mazda start making sports cars again that way Nissan will have to beef up the Z series

If that is true it is very disapointing. The body is a step the wrong way and certainly not a better looking body than the 370, which was the main sell for me. Even the 350Z was slightly less curvy but still way sexy. It would be nice if Nissan would boost power to close to 400hp next year (on base not Nismo) to compete with the mustang in my eye. I think even just adding DI next year would be a step in the right direction, then up displacement a bit.
If the original post pans out in 2015 I will either keep my 370z for much longer than planned or buy a new mustang. The fanged 370 body is hard to beat IMHO. Current Nismo 370 doesn't cut it for me personally, the goofy rediculous spoiler is laughable and small increase in performance, not worth the extra money....again just my oppinion, don't hate on that.

It looks like Honda Accord coupe! lol.

350hp at 2016 is lame. They should say at least 400 hp by then. But to me, hp is not the biggest weak point Nissan need to address. It's the torque! Sexy/fast looking Z should be packed with at least 300Ib/ft. The solution to it is to turbocharge it! Come on Nissan, I've been waiting for a turbocharged v6 for too long!

Nice. Will have to check out the 2014 auto show for concepts. Not sure why the reaction to the rendering. That's not final anyway. More likely closer to what will come around 2014. That's next year. For me, I'm due for a switch in 2017 = PERFECT!

The next Z is very very far away. Everything just speculation at this point, all pictures are just drawn renderings. Too early.
