When I bought my car, at a Nissan dealer, I made a comment that I was glad it warmed up alittle and there wasn't any snow because of the summer tires. I had a 3hr drive back home. Car only had 3k miles and stock tires. He says he is pretty sure they are all season tires, leans over and points at the size and says "Yep, 275s, they are all season."

On a plus note my salesguy at the Porsche dealership that I bought my IS-F and 911 from knows his stuff. He said all the sales people are sent to Porsche driving school regularly and get to test drive various models.
When I was test driving my 911 he was giving me a bunch of driving tips and showing me what all the buttons and stuff do. Now that was a great salesman! No BS, no hassle, knows his stuff
Yeah, it helps that at higher-end dealerships, they also typically don't take idiots, and they don't take entry-level salespeople usually. You gotta do your time in the lamer ones before you even have a chance at a high-end shop.

A good salesman can sell you something that he knows nothing about and that what you didn't want.

For Z or any other low volume car isn't want the sales people are focused on. They could probably talk for hours about an altima or quest pointing out all the different features.

Stopped into my dealer to get a copy of my last maint for my binder and started talking to a new tech. So I asked him if he has seen any Z's come in for CSC failure. His reply and I quote, "a couple but they only go bad from too much pushes on the clutch pedal". WTF???? So, how in the hell am I suposed to shift if I can't "push" on the clutch? I seriously hope he was messing with me......

perhaps not the best choice of words, but they do seem to go bad by repetitive abrupt clutch-ins/outs, i thinks...

I've had more than my share of idiot sales people, most of them dealt with domestic vehicles. Before I bought my Z (@CarMax), I went to several car dealers trying to decide what I wanted. CarMax didn't bat an eyelash at letting me drive cars; I asked, they got the keys and away we went. The Chevy dealer in Independence balked at letting me drive a Corvette, yet let an 'older' gentleman try to back out a MT Corvette from it's parking place. Idiot killed it 6 times in 15 feet. The Chevy dealer in Overland Park refused to let me drive an 08 Z06, said "I wasn't qualified." I saw the guy that wouldn't let me drive the Vette after I got the Z, when I went to Hendrick Nissan to get touch up paint. He said "Hey, you wanna trade that Z in on a Vette?" My response was "You want to go eff yourself? You are the idiot that wouldn't let me drive the Z06. I won't be buying anything from you." I have no patience for salespeople. Don't bs me and don't play games. I make games for Milton Bradley...

There is so much win in the last few sentences. Good for you..I would've told him the same. I believe there are some situations where a person is entitled to be a **** to someone.

I don't expect the salesperson to know every detail about every car they sell. "I don't know but I'll find out real quick" is an acceptable answer. A bullsh!t answer, on the other hand, is totally unacceptable.

i disagree, they should know! its there job. hell when i sold kitchen appliances and home goods during my retail days i learned about every product we sold. we even had classes before work to learn the products.

if a guy cant learn the differences between 12 dif cars they suck.

Last October I stopped by a Nissan dealer to see if they had any Z's. There was one Roadster 7AT. I was looking for a Coupe 6MT, but the salesman had to push me towards it, so I said "Sure, lets go check it out."

So we open the doors and get in and fire it up to "listen to the engine." As it was cold the RPMs were high at about 1400 as it warmed up.

I asked him what the idle is and he looked at the tach and said "It idles at 1400 RPM."

I said "Thanks' and left him in the lot asking for my name and number.

Went to a Ford dealership to test drive a Mustang GT before I bought the 370Z.

Salesman told me he had to reverse it out of the display area, located in the front of the dealership and then on to the street before I could drive it.

Here's where the fun started. It was a 6mt and he had no idea how to drive a stick, but tried anyway. Grinded the gears, went forward (almost hitting a wall), instead of back, then killed it. He sat in the drivers seat with a dumb founded look, now sweating profusely. I told him to just let me do it and I won't tell anyone. LOL, just whole 370Z community.

It's just too bad I didn't want to buy it as I probably could have gotten a really good price from this guy.

I've been buying Nissans from the same salesman and dealership since 2003 (6 cars). He doesn't even try to sell me anything anymore, he just shows me what I ask him for. Last time I asked him a question about a car (not a Z), he looked at me funny and said: "You know these cars better than I do! Why are you asking me?" We both had a laugh.

Took my Z in to a Chevy dealer to see what they would give on a trade in for a Grand Sport. They came back with $26K. I said no thanks and started walking out the door. They said the reason it was so low was because the new 1,000 HP GTR was coming out this year and once it did my car was going to lose a lot of value. I almost laughed in the guy's face.
