When I went car shopping with my sister they advertised as 'Certified Pre-Owned Pricing'. When it came time to talk numbers, something wasn't adding up. I asked, why are you up charging for CPO, I thought it was built into your sales price, since your ad read: 'Certified Pre-Owned Price'

Dealer: Oh all of our cars are Pre-Certified Pre-owned.

Me: So why did you advertise it as 'CPO price' then tack on an additional $1500 to that price to make it CPO? I could understand if you mistakenly posted for this car, but I'm looking at your site now on my phone, and it looks like you like to deceivingly advertise...

Dealer: let me talk to my sales manager...

I was in the other day as I'm currently in the market for my Z, I sat down with the salesman to talk about ordering. He immediately says I'll have to speak with my manager, talks with him for a minute then comes back. He flat out told me that he couldn't order a new car as the "2014's" (not a typo) don't come out till around August and that he couldn't give me anything on pricing. He instead offered to show the the basic MSRP price on Nissan's website and I said no I can just as easily do that from home, I'm not here to have you hold my hand through the website. So the then he proceeds to try to sell me the 13' sitting out front, the only Z on the lot. I laughed and said "so why do the 14's not come out until the 2015's would almost be arriving?" to which all he could say was I don't know, just the way it is. I had pretty much had enough of them trying to pull one over on me and walked out.

A few days later I went to another dealership that was more than happy to accommodate ordering a car without charging me the delivery fee if they didn't have what I wanted on the lot. (I realize they may try to snub me with that fee somewhere in the paperwork).

This is why I always get the customer that is inquiring about a Z in my dealership. Literally shaking my head at the things I have read on here... I would tell these sales people

I was told, by the service manager, that I had high standards after I found a nick in each of my new front wheels when they did an alignment.

"The 370z and 350z are the same cars they just redid the exterior a little bit"

Me: " really? But I thought they called it 350 because it had 3.5 liter engine and 370 because it had 3.7 liters"

Another dealerships salesman said "it's front wheel drive"

Service Agent: "TSBs are only good for 12 months from the original purchase date."

Me: "Really, so what happens when a TSB comes out on a 2 year old car?"

Service Agent: "Umm...let me check. Anyway, if it's over a year, we'll have to charge you an exploratory fee."

Me: "Yeah, right. Is this scripted somewhere, or did you just pull that out of your a**?"

My 2012 roadster, which I bought gently-used this January, had the issue of the windows not going down far enough to avoid catching on the top when you open the doors. The TSB calls for a window adjustment and top replacement if the top is damaged.

I went to another dealer, showed them the problem, and got a totally different attitude. I left the car with them, they adjusted the windows and called me to pick it up. My windows were adjusted properly and there was absolutely no mention of money.

Was getting an oil change done last year before I put it away, they checked the tread and listed that I needed new tires soon. The lovely salesman quotes me 4 tires all the same size and dimensions.... really??

Default dumbest thing you've ever heard at a dealership

saw this thread on a couple other forums and i got a kick out of it.

mine was at a used car dealer when i was about 19. lookin at an sti

Me: can we look at the STI out front?
dealer: that thing is twin turbo'd so we don't let anyone drive it
me: uhh actually i think that's just a single turbo (trying to be nice)
dealer: no i promise you its a twin turbo
me: i think you may be wrong on that one

(at this point the dealer raises his voice)

dealer: do you want me to pop the hood and prove it to you?!
*pops hood. proceeds to point to one side of intake mani, then the other*
dealer: see!? 1 and 2!
me: uhhh... ok i'm gonna leave now since you have no idea what's even on your lot
