Have anyone actually tried this method? How has your part hold up?

My brother does this for interior/motorcycles/helmets/engine parts. Holds up fine.

He's also done turbos that hold up okay and the full interior in his S14 is woodgrain (looks better than OEM) If you're interested let me know. I'm getting him to do a helmet for me and maybe a gun.

That's cool stuff!

Wonka2581 02-27-2013 12:07 AM

Thats so flipping cool.... How much does that cost??

Boost_lee 02-27-2013 03:21 AM

I found a place near my house that does it. I may have them do my valve cover for my other car

Read T 02-27-2013 08:34 AM

I can ask my brother what he charges if anyone is interested PM me. IIRC SR20 valve covers he did were around $200

He is also active on Zilvia with the name Silviaks2nr if any of y'all frequent that site.

The center console looks wicked

Looks even more badass with the shifter he made haha. I had the OEM woodgrain in my S14 and I do have to say the hydrodipped one is a thousand times nicer.

Who wants to have the first Z with a woodgrain interior haha.

yah, that's great work. i really like to go this route vs my dinoc if i could. i dont know where to source matte finish CF vinyl like that.

it beats real CF imo as it's a lot thinner and hold contour better.

but real cf looks like real cf... so far, nobody has been able to really replicate that look perfectly

if that was a solid CF piece, then that's great. but it is not and adds thickness. this is why i chose dinoc as it is matte, and thinner... and readily available...and i can do it at home instead of shipping parts to a vendor.

if i could do the water tranfer at home instead of dinoc, that would be fantastic.

mr.kenchan, use a matte/satin clear coat as a final step instead of glossy clear.
