Coupe vs Roadster
With warmer weather not far away, I'm starting to get the itch to trade my coupe in for a Roadster. So far I have owned both. The Roadster was a '07 350Z and my current is an '09 370Z Coupe. Not sure if I should make the trade. My 370 runs great especially after the steering lock problem was fixed. I know I can't afford a new 370Z Roadster so I would probably have to go back and consider an '07 or '08 350Z Roadster. I know this is personal preference but what's your thought?

No...
If you can afford a 09 370Z roadster, ok |
I personally prefer the hatchback, that long trunk on the roadster just looks weird to me. But each to their own.

Was in the same boat as you, I had an 06 350z roadster (Daytona Blue) loved the car, so enjoyable to drive if you have the weather etc.
Then bought a 370z Red Roadster (2010) it died on me, got a replacement coupe though now like you. I am modding mine up - its a fun car still, Coupe does look better then roadster but roadster has so much enjoyment when the sun is out. I say if you want get it - I never regretted mine..(just died oil consumption issue) |

I love my roadster when it's on the road.
Unsure if you are planning to store it though winter months then its a ~8 months nice car to drive and ~4 months nice car to look at parked. If you can live with that roadster all the way. If I was going to track the car or wanted it 12 months out of the year it would be a coupe and a nismo. I wouldn't go back to a 350z roadster just for the sake of a roadster, you can get a good priced coupe and mod the hell out of it over time. |
I would stick with the coupe. I like convertibles but the 370z roadster doesnt look right... just my opinion though. If the 370Z came with a Targa top (OME designed not aftermarket) i would have definitely considered that.

Nissan did a good job improving the looks of the roadster from 350 to 370. The 370 is fairly well integrated end to end. The tonneau is excellent and the lines flow well. With the top up the overall look of the Z is still there (not as great as the coupe...but decent: this is where a lot of vert's fail in that their top up look is just not good. Ref: 350z :D)
We have the roadster as it replaced the previous convertible. Its the trade off you make, its not as great as the coupe with the top up...but put the top down and you forget about those things. Biggest downside is its heavier of course. Again, trade offs for top down. - b |
Which would you rather wreck? I rather roll my coupe.

How about just getting an old bar of soap Miata MY 2000 or so. $6-$7K and you have both. There is one in E. Windsor CT.

my 2 cents its the coupe, just do not think the conv looks right...
now there are other conv that I consider before deciding on the Z..... But I have always liked the Z coupe through the years |
Coupe all day, keep it, hard top > soft top anyday. :icon17:
