OP...do what you like. Just be straight-up with folks as to what it is and you'll be fine. Noone on here (myself included) should sway you one way or the other with our opinions. That said here's mine. You've got enough Nismo **** on your car that badging it is fine in my book.

IMO it's not the same as GT500 or an M because the Nismo upgrade, if you can even call it that (I've got one) is not comparable to those upgraded packages. I love my Niz, but I don't think that mine is better than a non-Nismo Z (better looking yes, but taste is subjective), but performance wise, not really. They could've/should've done better. What my Nismo is that a non-Nismo with exhaust mods isn't, is legal in CA...and since my goal was not to mod, the Niz is what I went with...and I couldn't give a rat's *** what anyone has to say about that. Plus I don't have to take **** off every time I have a dealer issue. But to each his own.

Putting a Nismo emblem on your car given all your Nismo mods IMO is definitely more relevant and appropriate than putting a Fairlady Z badge on any USDM Z car, which many of my friends have and it looks fine and I'm not hating...you do you, you Fairlady Z badging people! But if people want to get picky and give you **** for badging your car with a Nismo emblem, if it wasn't built as a right-hand drive car for the JDM, then illegally imported into the US, it is not a Fairlady and shouldn't have the Fairlady emblem. If we're going to say that you're rice because its not "a real Nismo from the factory" then anyone with a Fairlady emblem in the US that doesn't meet the conditions above is automatically even more rice than you.

I'd be interested in hearing what Waizz, our resident Nismo freak, thinks about all this badging business. This whole discussion and argument just cost me about 20 IQ points! Damn my head hurts. Do what you like man! Good luck.

NISMO decals are perfectly fine, now if you walk around telling everyone that you have a NISMO when you don't that's a different story

OP, putting a Nismo decal/emblem is like having Spoon, TRD, M or Dinan badges. For me, it tells me that you have particular parts installed from those brands that gave it the right to rock it. Like you, I was planning to convert mine to a full nismo using the body kit, wheels, tune, suspension, interior and other minor details - hence I was going to badge it. Since it does cost a lot, I think it should be fine but when folks ask, you have to inform them that it's a nismo conversion which IMO, gives you my respect for being honest for spending blood, sweat and time. It may not sound realistic for some folks, but as long as you are happy, that's all that counts.

I've seen owners put GT-R, R-Spec, RS and Nismo badge without any parts installed or even a reason - those guys didn't give a f*** what people have to say.

I love how the nismo name is supposed to make the car more prestigious when the conversion probably costs more than purchasing a "real" nismo outright.

If you upgrade to actual nismo parts I don't see any problem with it. But I don't see the point in upgrading a base to nismo parts when there are better aftermarket parts out there, just my opinion. also I like the debadged look, I want people guessing on my car, I want people to see and here my car and say, wow what was that

Since Nismo's are numbered, what number will yours be? You could get a plaque that says counterfeit.

I am here just to correct an error, the Nismo in the US is a POS version of what everyone else gets.
In other countries you get all the options of the other models, nav, leather, heat, etc. if you want in a Nismo.

Carry on....

IMO, do what you want man. It's your car. Putting a nismo badge on your car doesn't make you a pretender. It is no different then putting a GTM or Stillen decal on your car. You have respect, and you want to show it.

I wouldn't go around telling everyone you have a nismo Z. But putting the badge on there and saying you did a conversion is actually kind of cool. It's a good talking point at meet and greets.

In the end, don't listen to anyone on this forum. Some people here are VERY elitist. It's your car, you spent the money on it, do what you want to do.

Is everyone with an Amuse replica kit a "pretender" also? Because there are a LOT of them.

Well said and I couldn't agree with you more. Thank you for expressing your feedback. It's definitely a sensitive topic as like you said everybody somehow just do whatever they like like getting away with rebadging their 370z to a Fairlady Z (or rebadging their Lexus IS to a Toyota Altezza, change their Scion FRS to Toyota GT86, Acura Integra to Honda Integra) most are pretty hypocritical with this, and rather giving grief to others, they actually would egg them on by what they did was "cool". I don't want this to be a hater or drive headaches to others or piss off other Nismo 370z owner thread; so I appreciate every feedback anyone gives.

Cheers It's always nice to have a good crowd that can keep a discussion going.

Unless it's a full blown race car, and I can say >95% of the Nismo 370z owners actually care about the stripped out stereo and turn it into a dedicated track car. They drive it daily/weekends and would prefer a nicer radio, a/c, possibly heated seats, integrated garage door opener, some maybe even automatic seat adjustments.

Maybe this is a stretch, but if you consider the GT-R for a second or a ///M3, they too have a standard Nav (GT-R w/ that PS3 display too) with all the bells and whistles. But then again those cars are a lot more expensive so one would expect that stuff to come std. I think it comes down to what the general market's willing to pay and what kind of customers they can attract.

A stripped down bare bone interior Nismo 370z at $42K, one would already question if it's really worth it. If they did try to market the JDM Nismo 370z in US, it would easily be another ~$7K-$10K. At that point, they'll realize that the market is very slim and they'll go back to what the general market would pay for and can live without. In the end I believe it's cost. This same goes with the 40th Anniversary edition, aside from US, outside market have the option to get it with a Nav. If you look at what they're already asking for the 40th Anniversary edition, we're already looking at $40K+ MSRP for the same car that's a lot less.
hi scruffy- i know wat you're saying. basically for cars that target the normal folk, it needs to be economical. especially a 2 seater, for most people it's going to be a 2nd car or even a 3rd car if household.

since the japanese yen was taking an unfair beating from the rest of the world there's no way in hell nissan couldve accomodated a fully loaded nismo under $45K... that said, i dont think hyundai ever got to their intended sales target with their genesis coupe. they may promote it as such, but at the core, i think they missed the boat since the JPY is finally weakening to a more fair level. JPY needs to be at least 140-150 range to be truely fair, imo. average standard of living is very high in japan.

nissan just kept the essentials and removed everything else to keep the nismo near $40K range so that it was still attainable by a normal folk...

im very gratful that the french guy gave us the G35C and 370Z, even if i had to swap out the HU and some other things on it. i dont mind at all.

Your car. Your money. Do what you want. Hell, I'm going to take all the badges off my car after I get my body kit. Completely blank. Ninja style.

Point being do what makes you happy. Others mod their cars the way they want. Do the same to yours and make it how you want it.
