How many of you Auto Drivers drive with two feet?
Got in a conversation with my dad (he has a 350z) and it made me wonder how many people out there actually do this. I would think that most 370z owners would know better but none the less I was curious if any 370z auto users actually do this. My dad and I both drive a 6-mt so needless to say yes we use both feet.
For those of you who do it and think its the right way... explain your reasoning? |
it sounds very dangerous to have left foot on brake and right foot on gas pedal.
|
My 370 is currently my only manual, but I do drive the autos with 2 feet. always have, always will. No reason other than Its the way I learned from dad 30 years ago.
|
I am curious, however, to hear the reasons why people say that its wrong. anyone wish to enlighten me?
|
That's why people drive through store fronts and run people over lol. Your hand eye coordination might be ok now, but we all get old.

I drive a 6mt and I left foot brake to go over railroad tracks if I'm at a low speed and don't need to downshift or while I'm at the track if I just need a quick, light, application of the brakes.

Unless you're go karting or racing on a track where the milliseconds wasted moving your foot from one pedal to the other really matter, then you should NOT be using both feet.
|
Some two foot drivers put too much pressure on the brake pedal when they are not braking. This causes unneeded wear and tear on your brake pads plus you go driving gown the road with your brake lights on all the time.

It drives me nuts following people who are obviously driving an auto with 2 feet. Damn brake lights are coming on constantly for no reason. Personally, I wish everyone drove a stick. They would be forced to pay more attention. Especially SUV drivers. I swear, they get so comfortable they think they are still on their sofa. Plus, they don't realize some cars don't sit 10 feet in the air. Sorry, had a bad experience with one yesterday...had to vent.

I've never heard of a person using 2 feet driving an auto. wadafuq?
|
This is interesting... There is nothing wrong to drive an auto using both foot as long as he knows what he is doing. For people never know how to drive a stick, it IS dangerous and un-natural to use both foot. But for people who can use left foot for clutch he certainly know how to use left foot to brake. Coz your left foot is trained and it's all about the muscle memory. I just proved this myself. After I mastered how to drive a stick, I can brake using my left foot as smooth as right foot and of course not step on the brake all the time(right foot out on gas left foot on brake just like how you drive a stick). Don't believe me? Try it yourself.
