Don't be offended by Ken's advice... Cuz it's the same advice I gave you and it's good advice. Pay off the Z bruh... Then buy a turbocharged car to play with. I realized the Z was NOT the best mod investment after purchase. I thought $18k budget for turbocharging the car was good. I was wrong. It's like a $35k budget to do it right. It disappointed me. I don't like doing half a job so i am going to do with the Z what Ken said, Make it mine with personalization and getting the best out of suspension mods etc... Power mods will be minimal. Now i'm upset about Z modding cost, but being upset and not liking my Z are 2 different things. Basically I'm saying. I know how you feel. I rent camaro's and vettes alot. They have way more power and fill a void the Z can't give me. But the Z fills a void those cars can't give me too... In other words. no car under $80k will be close to perfect. But you can have a couple cars in your life that can fit different roles in your driving mood. Pay off the Z. Keep it. Then buy a STi, Evo, or even a Juke Nismo. Buy what YOU like. We don't pay your bills so our opinion only holds so much weight.. People will throw all types of philosophies on you. I can give you my philosophy on BRZ's that many won't agree with. Opinions are like azzholes. In the end the decision is yours. GL |

It's really not subarus fault. They had to get the emissions down somehow. I blame the government.

for me the coolest things about the VW Beetle are the insurance rate is very low and you have the confidence that no guys would want to steal anything from it.
Let's say you had to park your Z outside overnight, there is a chance that some bad guys might steal your tires/rims. With the Beetle, you don't have to worry about that :-) |

i think there will always be a deep longing for the car(like i do miss my eclipse but because its now my brothers car i can still drive it occasionally) and i will always miss it no matter what car it is financially speaking, my car payments would go down if i got a cheaper car, i dont know about insurance but it honestly cant be any higher then it is now unless i got a more expensive car |

Since 2002? That's news to me. Cast pistons are gonna create issues when you take a factory lean turbo car and lean it out more. It's pretty straightforward. And when a large proportion of your buyers are joining the car, you're really going to see issues. |

Pistons are one thing, rings are another. The pistons have nothing to do with poor ring quality. And yes, since this platform has been in use, it has been a problem

The problem has only been common in the EJ257, mostly as a result of the hypereteutic pistons. If you think piston construction doesn't have anything to do with these failures, you should do some more research as to what a ringland is. Every STI I've seen that has run into ringland issues has had all the telltale signs of detonation prior to issues, with an owner too hard-headed to fix the root cause. I'm very familiar with the issue and what it stems from. I would not hesitate to buy one (I did), nor would I hesitate to recommend it to a friend (I hear shadoquad is enjoying his) Last edited by Red__Zed; 02-12-2013 at 12:51 AM. |
