+1 on the reversing on 6th gear. First car for me that you had to press down to get into reverse.

Constantly getting out of my car because the perception for parallel parking is way different than my old car. It looks like I'm about to hit the car behind me, but I see that I still have like 3 feet.

:icon17: lol, ya I wish I was alone...my wife went with me to get the car, she parked and came back and I was still trying to figure it out...all she could say was "seriously???" :shakes head:

"So, I was walking towards my Z and then I saw the exhaust holes, and..." :D

Put me down on the list of people trying to reverse in 6th gear. I did that a couple of times initially after I got my Z. I hadn't driven a manual in 8-9 years and Z was the first where I had to push down to shift to reverse.

Never had the reverse issue or the pressing the power button mishap. I think the only stupid thing I do on a regular occasion, only because I look stupid, is parking in a space and getting out to check and make sure I'm not too close to the concrete parking block. Last thing I want is to scrape my INGs lip or dent the cans on the FI exhaust.

Other than that, most people just make fun of me for my automotive OCD.

My garage door is narrow. I've had to replace my passenger side mirror cover twice. Yeah, I've owned the car almost 1 year now.

Nothing stupid but only because I was saved by 42 years of good driving habits.
When I go into my garage I usually hit the garage door opener next to the side entrance door, get in my Z, back out and then use the Homelink to close the door. Well, I was leaving home on a weekend at about 6:00 AM for a long drive out of town, no coffee yet and still dark out. I opened the garage door, got in my Z and decided to load up the CD player while the car was warming up. I reached up and hit the Homelink button, started the car and loaded a couple of CD's. Then I put the car in reverse and started to roll backwards. You guessed it, I had closed the door. Luckily my habit of glancing up in the rearview mirror when backing out and my still reasonably fast reflexes I stopped instantly and didn't run into the door. That sure would have sucked and been a total idiot moment.

I'd say most embarrasing

When I first got the car, it was the first one I had driven where you had to push down to get it into reverse.

So I got the car home from the dealership and tried to put it in my parking spot, couldn't reverse lol. Kept trying for a few minutes, didn't want to break the shifter...so I put it in Neutral and pushed it into the spot.

That night I called my buddy....and he proceeded to laugh his azz off for about 15 minutes...and explained to me how to get it into reverse.

at least that was day one

:roflpuke2::bowrofl: You pushed it into the spot?? OMG I am still laughing! Good one.

forza370z 02-06-2013 06:37 PM

And those ignition button moments are too funny!:rofl2: Seems like the red GTR start button mod is already not good enough to prevent you folks to push that button carelessly. You ignition button folks need to upgrade to this mod...

Followed the advise of a valet attendant asking me to make a u-turn onto the hotel's main front door entrance and I ran into a stealth curb. I should not have listened to him, paid attention on where I was going, and he should have kept an eye on me knowing I was going in the opposite direction. Net result, broke and tore up the left side of my lip open. Had plans of selling it but now it's just recyclable FRP.

Never trust ANY valet attendant. They don't give a $h!t.

Visibility on these cars is for some reason hard when your driving. So it goes without saying that when making turns in an intersection with low curb medians, you have to be specially careful... well one day... as the Z was braking necks, I felt specially cocky and had to suddenly stop, swerve and avoid this really shitty median in front of the road... in front of everyone who happen to be admiring the Z. Obviously... i felt dumb afterwards.
